must, seating is limited. Traditional English fare, $13.95; à la
carte items available. I visited this new tea room with a group of
eight from the Temecula Valley Victorian Tea Society. The patio is
actually a lovely terrace. A gentle breeze added to the relaxed and
very comfortable setting. Fresh flowers and linens, lovely china and
silver, and adorable tea cozies. All dishes freshly prepared and
tastefully served by a lovely young Brit who knows how to make a good
hot pot of tea as well as tasty tea sandwiches. Her sausage rolls are
excellent; best I've tasted Stateside. We were all so impressed and
delighted that we plan to return soon. Located at the 76/Pala Road and

building looks like a gingerbread house, with a swirled roof and curved chimney. No
reservations, so be prepared to wait. Tea is served from 2.30 to around 3.45."
Updated April 2002 (by S. Sharp, Camarillo, CA): I called them for info and found out they serve
tea daily from only 2pm to 2.45pm. I was disappointed to find out that they do not have a
pre-set Afternoon Tea. You have to order everything à la carte. No reservations are taken

Captain's Cottage is located in a charming renovated Victorian in old town Pinole. There are about thirty or so teas to choose from. Russian Caravan is superb. The front room is sunny and the back room has a lot of shade. The servers dress in period costume, replete with caps. My friends and I bought tea, jam, and ornaments; the prices were really good. The food, though presented very well on lovely European and Japanese china, had a heavy Costco quality. Nothing wrong with Costco, it's just that I would prefer not having it for tea. Plenty of parking and a really friendly staff. It's also walking distance to Heartland Treasures and Garden of Gems. Tea, all five courses, including tax and tip is $17.00 per person.
