Visited:
October, 2008. Meal: Afternoon tea. Type of tea: Loose leaf. Served: In a teapot.
Tea: Good. Food: Good. Service: Good. Appearance:
Excellent.
Comments: I thought the shop was very nicely decorated. The
tea was tastey, they were out of two of the one's my party wanted. The sandwhich's and desert's complimented each other
very well. They tasted fresh and were well prepared. I would have liked to see our waitress a little more often but she was
very nice in explaining things to us (it was out first time) and we felt no pressure to hurry or leave right away. All in all, very good
time.
Would you go back? Yes, can't wait!

Comments: The worst service I have ever had in my life keeps getting
worse! I have been going to this tea shop since it opened and since about 2005 it has been on a sharp downward decline. The employees
are horrible and act like it is your priveledge to even be in their presence. Because it IS! If you can find someone at the counter to
take your order it is a rarity. My friends and I were regulars and we
have been slowly all refusing to go there as the service gets worse.
What you order is different. A months ago I order a salad and got a nice big piece of bread that was fancy. Then they changed to normal
bread. Then they stopped serving bread and when I asked for a slice the girl rudely said ,"Bread never comes with this!." I should
know, I have ordered it for 3 years!
Would you go back? Sorry, no.

Comments: Visited this tea room about 2:00 PM. One has to order from the front counter, the blackboard menu is
on the wall and pay in advance. Afternoon Tea must have advance reservations, so I ordered ala carte. The
hazelnut tea was excellent, served in a teapot. The finger sandwiches
were triangular made fresh--4 cucumber with herb cream cheese and two with a
spinach/artichoke/parmesan mixer that, I believe, comes from Costco. The
current scones were excellent, clotted cream is extra charge, the raspberry jam was delicious. All
was served on Fiesta type dishes, except for the cup and saucer, by a young girl with a sweet personality. I would
have appreciated a fork and napkin. The library and the study are very atmospheric. The rest was rather eclectic
and non-descript. Overall, it was good, but not memorable.
Would you go back? Maybe.

Comments: I liked this place, it had a wonderful retro,
jazzy atmosphere. The waitress was cute wearing a black skirt with
hot pink tennis shoes. The lavender tea and the lemon scones were
delicious. I also ordered a tea sandwich sampler to go. The
sandwiches were generous with the filling so a half order would be
plenty for one person. There are wedding related books and magazines
for the bride who needs a one stop source of information for her big
day. Very nice, I enjoyed the experience.

Comments: This is my kind of place: small, intimate, and
delicious, light food. I had chocolate mint decaf tea and it was
delicious. We were there for lunch, but we ordered tea sandwiches,
scones, and soup. All were delicious, especially the scones -- they
were the best scones I've ever had. They had clotted cream and jam
for the scones. The service was cheerful and friendly and the decor
was delightful. They were wonderfully tolerant of my rambunctious
two-year old niece. I am definitely going back there with some other
friends, to share the experience with them.

Comments: What an enjoyable way to spend an afternoon visiting
with a friend. Since they didn't have Afternoon Tea we made our own by adding the cucumber sandwich, a small lemon curd tart,
and a custard tart. We never though we would eat it all but the tea -- Irish Breakfast -- was so divine we stayed on and on and finished
everything.

Grand
America Hotel, Salt

Meal: Afternoon tea. Type of tea: Loose leaf and teabags. Served:
In a teapot.
Tea: Good. Food: Excellent. Service: Fair. Appearance:
Excellent.
Comments: This is the second time I’ve visited this tea room.
The first time was
before the Olympics when the hotel was just opening. The service was
exquisite, with
delicious food and generous servings. The setting is wonderful in an
open drawing room off the lobby, with either a harpist or pianist.
It’s relaxing just sitting there enjoying the music. I wish the
experience was better the second time. Our server disappeared between
courses, never to be seen. She never checked whether we needed more tea,
and when we asked, she just poured hot water into the pots, which of
course was dreadful. The sandwiches, although tasty, were dried out and
we were given only 3 quarters, so less than one regular sandwich. The
scones were good, with wonderful Devon cream. We were able to choose 3
desserts from the heavy cart that the server laboriously pushed to our
table. The server acted like she was doing us a favor by serving us. The
hotel is so gorgeous, it’s a shame the service and food have slipped.
Would you go back? Maybe.

Meal: Afternoon tea. Type of tea: Loose leaf. Served: In a teapot.
Tea: Poor. Food: Poor. Service: Poor. Appearance: Excellent.
Comments: The first time I attended tea at Grand America
everything was wonderful with the exception of the snooty service. The
second time, they had placed a limit on the number of sandwiches,
scones, and pastries. We were allowed three sandwiches, all of which
were dried out as if they had been refrigerated overnight without any
plastic wrap. The scones were the size of quarters! The pastries were
over sweet and looked as if they were old or had been setting the the
tray too long. The service was unfriendly and often unavailable. It was
over priced at $18.00 for the experience. Too bad this tea service went
downhill.

Comments: This is a wonderful relaxing tea room. It feels
good to be in their space. They had a huge selection of loose leaf
teas from around the world. The staff were very well educated and
taught me a lot I didn't know about tea. They have two samples
available everyday for anyone to try for free. I even bought some
bulk to take home after I stayed for two hours sipping my Houjicha
tea and reading. They even gave me a second steeping for free!! They
had sandwiches, burritos, and pastry's. This was a wonderful
experience and nice break in my day.

Comments: On a recent visit to Salt Lake City, I had the pleasure of
visiting this truly charming tea shop. The tea was brewed correctly, the
scones were delicious, and the owner of the shop, Shandre Dovale was
very welcoming and knowledgeable. What a find! This is a real gem, and I look forward to my next visit.

Comments: This charming little tea room set in the picturesque Gardner Village, was a delightful treat for my
granddaughter and I. We received excellent service and a wonderful selection of teas to go with our delicious
Afternoon Tea. Freshly baked scones brought back memories of my childhood vacations in England. What a
treat! A weekly visit is a must to relax and unwind while listening to the soft parlour music of yester-year.
