Comments: A wonderful tea room with about 50 choices of tea and some unusual choices for a light lunch. Be sure to
have the pecan pie. This tea room has a southern influence with the decor and menu. A very relaxing and enjoyable
afternnon with a pot of tea and my best friend.

Vintage House Cafe & Tea Room,
Avon, OH
Visited: May, 2008. Meal: Afternoon tea. Type of tea: Loose leaf. Served: In a teapot.
Tea: Good. Food: Good. Service: Good.
Appearance: Excellent.
Comments: The afternoon tea here was ok. They bring you a different selection of tea with each course unlike some tea
rooms that let you decide what kind of tea to get for your whole meal. So it
is a good way to try new teas but if you like a particular kind and it is not the tea choice for today then you are out of luck. The
sandwiches are very good and I wish they had their chicken salad on their regular menu so you could get it to go. The desserts were
ok and my group was disappointed that not everyone got to try one of each type of dessert on the plate. There were four of us but only
three of each dessert. The service was very good. The atmosphere is very nice.
Would you go back? Maybe.

Victorian
Afternoon Teas, Bryan, OH
Visited: September, 2008. Meal: Private adults party. Type of tea:
Loose leaf. Served: In a teapot.
Tea: Excellent. Food: Excellent. Service: Excellent.
Appearance: Excellent.
Comments: Tea was served in her home. The living room was tastefully decorated in a Victorian style. Small
tables/stands were placed by each chair to hold our tea and food. During
each course, she served a different tea to match the course. Her scones were the moistest I have ever had. The savories
and sweets were a nice variety and very good. Everything was tastefully garnished. During the final course, she pulled up a
chair, poured herself a cut of tea and joined in our conversation. A very delightful afternoon with a very delightful
hostess.

Comments: The look, the feel, the ambiance of a tea room is the first opportunity to offer comfort to one's
guest. The First Ladies Tea room offers comfort immmediatly at one's entree. Greeted by a gracious
hostess, warmed by through the eyes and the soul, it is a respite to a busy world.
It is a place not only of warmth but of elegance. One feels comfortable, relaxes
and enjoys the time being served daintly and graciously. Tea choices are very fine and served so as to enjoy
every drop. The food is freshly prepared, presented attracitivly and are
pleasing to the pallet. We had a lovely experience celebrating a birthday and look

Meal: Afternoon tea. Type of tea: Loose leaf. Served: In a teapot.
Tea: Excellent. Food: Excellent. Service: Excellent.
Appearance: Excellent.
Comments: This
tea room is a gem! Both my husband and I ordered the afternoon tea. I
chose the Queen Catherine's Blend (black tea) and my husband chose the
Burgundy Cherry. The tea (loose) was brewed in the kitchen and brought
to us in teapots. The food was excellent as was the presentation. The
sandwiches consisted of a calla lily (cream cheese with apricot), half
of a small croissant with chicken salad made with walnut and basil,
banana bread with cream cheese, and a "butterfly" spread with
cucumber and cream cheese. The chicken salad was excellent! The scone
was served warm with cream and strawberry preserves. It was light and
tasty and one of the best I've had at a tea room. Desserts consisted of
a raspberry brownie, pumpkin square with a ginger type of cookie cut out
in tiny maples leaves, mini pecan pie, and a puff-type of pastry with
cream filling and a fresh raspberry. I would highly recommend a visit to
this tea room if you're in the area!

Comments: Great tea & food, but the service was quite inadequate. Several times we had to get up and walk
over to the servers to ask for things we needed...and we were very patient. But waiting 20 minutes to ask the
server for honey to go with my tea was ridiculous...so I finally went over and got it myself.

The
Cincinnatian Hotel, Cincinnati, OH
Visited:
April, 2002
Meal: Afternoon tea. Type of tea: Loose leaf. Served: In a teapot.
Tea: Fair. Food: Fair. Service: Good. Appearance: Good.
Comments: I
had high hopes for tea at the Cincinnatian Hotel. I can best describe
the experience as "average." The tea was served in the pot,
with the leaves left in. Some may enjoy tea that becomes stronger and
more bitter with each cup, but not I. We were served a small assortment
of finger sandwiches, then pastries, all of which tasted rather dry and
bland, as if they had recently been thawed from the freezer. The
Cincinnatian advertises live harp music, which they confirmed when I
called to make the reservations. However, on the day we were there,
there was no music of any sort. Overall, a nice place to gather to meet
friends, but don't expect a first-rate tea experience.

Comments: I had the pleasure of visiting Essencha Tea House last week. I was greated by a charming young
waitress who offered me a free sample of 'blueberry rooibos'. It was very soothing and allowed me to relax
from the get-go. I ordered the European afternoon tea. Had the best Genmaicha green tea ever. I was amazed
by Essencha's loose tea selection, and the waitress' tea knowledge. The service was prompt and food was
excellent. I sat and enjoyed my tea for almost an hour. I must say it was the most relaxing time I have had in
such a long time. Best of all, before leaving, I made sure I ordered some of the tea I drank to take and brew at
home. By the way, I also ordered a sample of the blueberry rooibos. Thanks Essencha for bringing the tea
world to Cincinnati and for sharing your love of tea with our city.

Tea: Excellent. Food: n/a. Service: Average.
Appearance: Excellent.
Comments: This was my first time in a tea room. It was very nice,
clean, and nicely-decorated. We arrived right at the posted opening time and waited for about 5 minutes after that time before the door
was unlocked for business. The tea barista (also the Manager's Assistant) was not rude, yet not really pleasant, just more
utilitarian. Also, they did not have a take-home tea list, nor a fucntioning website with their tea information.
The tea (I had the Silver Needle White tea) was to die for. I will definitely go back just
for that. I will give this tea room another chance, and have a full service experience rather than a take-out experience.

Comments: We used to live in the Short North, and were
thrilled that a tea shop would be opening. We were somewhat
disappointed at first that it was not a British style tea shop, but
the quality of the tea and food, and the knowledge of the owner made
up for this quickly. The service is sometimes a bit slow, but that's
only because they are incredibly crowded and take such care in

Comments: This is not a tea room, but a facility where tea concentrate is made. We had a group of 7 ladies tour
their facility. We were shown how they make their sassafras bottled
concentrate. We had been by here many times and never realized what it really was. They were very cordial in
welcoming us and showing us their business. We were given a sample of each of their teas - sassafras, green and the new
raspberry (I have noticed the raspberry is now available, but it was still in the testing stages when we toured.) They allowed
us to purchase cases (six bottles per case) when they finished showing us around. We did call ahead to ask about
touring. It is a very enjoyable tour by very friendly, small business
people.

a wonderful hot (broccoli--yummy) or chilled fruited (also yummy) soup for an excellent price. The special "Victorian
Tea" is one I'd pass on. I was not impressed with the extra's that made the price double over the basket. Not great
for the taste! The "chef's whim" is usually and excellent choice. Asa whole, stay away from the Victorian Tea (48 hr.

completed; upon its completion, the salesperson walked outside with the patrons and stayed on the
porch, chatting, for several minutes. When she returned, she walked past us and into the kitchen area. After a
few minutes, she returned, told us that it was too late for us to be served at all, and went back out on the
porch to chat with the same customers as before (the shop was still 20 minutes from the posted closing time).

Comments: I was rather disappointed on my latest visit to
Remember When. It pains me to say it, but I am not sure if I will
return. I came with my sister and a friend for the afternoon tea, which
we ordered in advance. The food was fantastic, as always. I had a garden
salad, the strawberry soup, the sandwiches, and pastries, and a maple
scone. It was more food than I could eat, very well-presented.
However, the service was disappointing. My plate had dried food stuck to
it, and the teacup and saucer had large, unsightly chips in them. I
asked for new dishes and was brought some, but the new ones were still
chipped. The waitress said that we could have our tea either iced or
hot, and my friend ordered hers iced. All three of us were brought hot
tea, however. When I interrupted the server (not the same woman who took
the order) from pouring to tell her that my friend's tea was supposed to
be cold, she looked very peeved and said that "this one doesn't
come iced." We insisted, so she consulted with the waitress and
came back and told us we would have to wait for it to cool down, which
my friend said was fine. It was brought to her in a little while, with a
sprig of mint in a tall, ice-filled glass.
Later, I ordered a second pot of tea, which never came. I figured that
the waitress had forgotten and didn't think much of it. But when she
presented the bill to us, she said "I'm sorry your tea was late,
but we ran out of hot water. You have to take it with you, however,
because I already charged you for it." I was stunned, and insisted
that since I didn't receive it and didn't drink it, I should not have to
pay for it. "Don't you want to take it home?" she pressed.
"I'm not going home," I said, wondering how I was expected to
carry a potful of tea with me. She unhappily went and rewrote the bill
for us.
I think the staff are just overworked. The place was so crowded on that
Wednesday afternoon that we had to ask the management where to park, and
they moved some employee vehicles for us. I have had some wonderful
experiences here, and some not so wonderful ones. Usually the problem is
a long wait for the food, but since we ordered the afternoon tea in
advance this wasn't a problem. The food, however, is really stellar and
worth a visit.

Comments: This tea room is truly a gem! I've been to numerous
tearooms in Florida and Ohio and this was outstanding. The scones were
done to perfection. My mother and I ordered the full afternoon tea and
we were not disappointed. There were maple oat scones, warm from the
oven; chilled strawberry soup (delicious), broccoli cream cheese soup
(delicious -- not heavy at all), salad, and a three-tiered stand with
our sandwiches and desserts. The variety of sandwiches included tuna,
egg salad, a lavender chicken salad with pecans and dried cranberries,
brie puff, cream cheese with raisins. Desserts included a chocolate top
hat, carrot cake, cream cheese brownie, lemon square, mini cheesecake
with fresh blueberries, as well as grapes, fresh watermelon slice, and
beautiful orange nasturtiums for garnish. This is definitely a place
I'll go back to! The staff was friendly and accommodating.

definitely the event I had hoped it would be. What a surprise to find such an excellent tea room in a rural

importantly the tea itself was great. We got to sample three separate
teas each made and served in cute little teapots. My eleven year old daughter
had the children’s tea and she got to sample two teas made just for her which made
her feel very special too. The scones melted in our mouths and oh how yummy the lemon curd tasted. I am already planning

Comments: First I will say that I did have good service and the food was good though I thought the portions

LOUD! Finally, and the reason I will not go back to this tea room again was the way I was treated I checked
Miss Molly’s tea room’s website and no mention was made regarding the need for reservations. My mother
and I went for my birthday which was a Fri. The hostess asked if we had reservations which we didn’t. She sat
us in a high traffic two top table and actually told us that this wasn’t a very good table but because we didn’t have
a reservation this is where we had to sit. To make things worse there were about 15 tables with reserve
signs on them that were never seated during our entire meal. If you reserve tables
then also place a time limit on how long a table will be held. All customers are
important and deserve to be treated with consideration.

Comments: It was my daughter's birthday. This tea house certainly don't care who's feelings they hurt even
if it is the birthday girl herself. The waitress was in no way going to make things nice for her. They never
apologized after making her cry. The service takes too long. For being a Sat. afternoon there was only two
waitresses waiting on people. Be prepared for being there the whole time 11-3 just to get tea and a
sandwich. My tea by that time was ice cold twice. The food was only fair. I have been there twice, once at their
old location and now their new. By all means they should of kept the old. From the outside it feels like I
was entering an old greenhouse building. The two tea rooms are so small
that with my chair pulled all the way to the table and also the customer behind me that there
was still no room for the waitress to walk. So she handed us the food and we passed it down. What
service. The bathroom needs work. Only one toilet that I saw. In regards to shopping, well put it this way. How
can anyone enjoy shopping when 2 people follow you around watching everything you touch. My children by
all means were not running around or bothering anyone, but the Ashley Place bothered us in such a way I have
been recommending everyone to go elsewhere. Our whole experience was a disappointment.

having a tough or stressful time we go to Ashley's, it's so comfortable and
cozy and always perks us up. They give attentive service, above average portions, and continually get new
teas in to try. I was highly surprised to see a review on this site stating horror at the no
children rule. Personally, I love it. When I go to Ashley's, I am going to get away from the kids
and relax and converse with my mother or friend. It ruins the atmosphere to have
misbehaved children or a a crying baby around. The whole point to a tea room is for a relaxing diversion

Comments: I have a small child, and made reservations for the

agreed). I was also informed over the phone that children were not
permitted to sit in strollers during the meal in lieu of highchairs;
they usually were made to sit on parents' lap. When I came to the
tearoom they were very unaccommodating until I finally just became so
upset I decided to leave. The tearoom seems to have a wonderful
selection of teas and meals judging by their menu. However I would
suggest anyone with children boycott this establishment until they
change their policy towards children. I have been to other wonderful
tearooms such as Mrs. Ticklemore's in Fairlawn-Akron area which are not
only more accommodating, but even have teatime story hour specifically
for children. I would suggest any parents of small children take their
business there instead. Mrs. Ticklemore's has teatime story hour every

Appearance: Excellent.
Comments: My sister and I went to celebrate our birthdays. The
food was excellent but felt service was rushed. The purpose of a tea
room is a relaxed setting which was not the case. Gift shop was
wonderful.

Comments: Ashley Place has a delightful selection of teas, both
loose and bagged. Their selections include many fruit teas that will
please even non tea drinkers. They serve the tea perfectly in bone china
teapots. The lunch selections are well prepared and diverse with both
salads and sandwiches. A perfect place for a light lunch with friends or
a relaxing "cuppa."

Comments: I have gone to Sweet Shalom every month since November 2007. It is so relaxing and unhurried. It's a
great place to go with friends for a mini vacation. Ladies, take your
significant other. Even if men are put off by the idea of a tea, I think they
will be very pleasantly surprised by an afternoon tea at Sweet Shalom. The people, food, and location are "The
Best". I always learn something new each month, and I wouldn't miss it for the world.

Comments: Time goes a little slower when one is at Sweet Shalom Tea Room, and that is not necessarily such a bad
thing. The food atmosphere, and the company of well-chosen friends make it a moment to savor. I have been going to tea at
Sweet Shalom for over 2 years now, and have never been disappointed. The various themes give one a new "flavor" for
each experience. All it takes is one visit to become a habitue.

Sweet Shalom is by far the best of them all. We have a monthly reservation just to help us keep our sanity in
this busy world. They have just finished remodeling a room that is now a Gift
Shop. It is a true rendition of an English Library. The cnanging monthly themes and varied menu must be experienced to be
truly ppreciated. It they know in advance it is your birthday or anniversary you will be served a dessert especially made for
you. The Sweet Shalome Taroom is truly the best of the best.

victorian. They have a different theme and menu each month. They do a short presentation relating to the theme between
courses. We have visited several times and each time the service gets better. They have several selections of tea to
choose from each month. They also offer some of their food items for take home sale. I love to enjoy a little treat with my

We've already booked reservations for all four of my sister-in-laws and their mothers to attend the December

Comments: Our experience at Lucy & Ethel's Country Tea was wonderful. We were curious about the
quality of a home tea room, but the moment we arrived on the beautiful country estate and were seated
at our own elegant table, any concerns vanished. My friend and I have enjoyed Afternoon tea at a variety
of establishments, and we both agree that "Lucy & Ethel's" (named for the nicknames of the two friends
who began it) is the best. The food is generous but not overwhelming, garden-fresh, delicious, and
creatively presented. The home was built for entertaining, and one doesn't feel at all like you are
"invading" a private residence; the hostess was professional and delightful.
My only disappointment was that we weren't left our own teapot, and so had to wait several minutes until she
came around to refill (but perhaps most folks don't drink as much tea as we always
do! ... which is to say, quite a lot.) Don't miss this lovely tea experience. The price
was $25, and reservations are a must.

because its out in the country. You come upon the place and its beautiful! A pond
with a fountain adorns the entrance. The house is so homey, yet immaculate
and tastefully decorated. The view from the tea room is of the stables, grounds and
pool. The ladies who run the place are wonderful hosts and the food was just
mouth-watering! Five different quaint, but filling handmade courses including
scones, soup, quiche, fruit, fingersandwiches, pastries and sorbet. Relaxing
afternoon. You can't go wrong here. Would be great for a baby or wedding shower or
birthday. But, book early as you must have reservations. We'll go back for the
