The Pineapple Tea Room, Apex, NC

Visited: January, 2009.  Meal: Afternoon tea. Type of tea: Teabags. Served: In a teapot.
Tea: Good.  Food: Good. Service: Good.  Appearance: Good.
Comments:
The tea room is okay. Kind of tuck inside the back of a tea shop in downtown Apex. The shop is cute but the merchandises are sort of over-priced. The afternoon tea was okay. They don't make the food inside the tea room. They have outside vendor delivering the food to them. All they did was to heat it up at the back (I could hear the ding sound coming from behind). The tea was served in a tea pot but I have no idea if they use tea bags or tea leaves. I don't think the place gives me a relaxing feel. I also think the price ($18) a bit too much for what we got.

I took my step mother and grandmother here for mothers day and it was a treat. We put on hats, sipped tea and enjoyed the snacks. Price was a bit steep at $18 each but worth the experience and time out with my family.

We ordered the French Breakfast tea off the menu (after discussing it with the hostess) and when we received it, it had a terrible, sweet quality to it. We politely asked if they had an English Breakfast that we could have instead. They did, indeed, but would have to charge us extra! The pastries and sandwiches were nice, but not exceptional. The English Breakfast they charged us for turned out to be lovely, but they never offered us more hot water,

I took my mother to the Pineapple Tea Room this weekend for her birthday. From the moment  we walked in, we were greeted with warm and inviting aromas of tea. There were over fifty teas to choose from, everything from black to green to white ... all served in a beautiful teapot with a cozy to keep warm. We started out with chicken puff pastry, cucumber sandwiches and cheddar quiche. All were exquisite. My personal favorite was the chicken salad; not overloaded with mayonaisse or pickles, very light. We next made our way to scones, chocolate chip and cinnamon and shortbread. Served with jam and double devonshire cream, these were simply delightful. We ended with pumpkin cheesecake, chocolate truffles and lemon shortbread, all of which exceeded our expectations. We had pumpkin creme tea and apple cinnamon green tea, both of which were fascinating. From the moment you walk in until the moment you walk out, you will be taken away with the charm of this amazing little tea parlor.

What a delightful tea room! It is located in downtown Apex with lots of other cute shops close by. The tea room is set up with a retail area in the front and a small tea rom in the back with four tables for two, and one larger table in the middle. Real china was used along with cloth napkins. The food was elegantly presented and tasted wonderful. The tea was equally good. I even purchased some to make at home which I was disappointed in - the tea leaves were slightly ground instead of the whole leaf I'm used to. I will not purchase tea from them again, but will visit the tea room again if given the chance!!!
Would you go back? Hope so, but we don't live nearby.

Very nice tea room and shop. I would highly recommend. Very flexible hours. One thing I would suggest is that you bring your own tea cup since they only serve using plastic ware.

I have visited this shop for many years and it is a favorite of mine to take my clients, especially out of town visitors who want the true atmosphere of Asheville. I have had everything on the menu and I have never had a bad meal and it continues to be my first choice especially if I want it to be a memorable experience. Also they have very nice little gifts and are very helpful in helping decide the best choice for the occasion you are needing it for. I highly recommend this cafe.

I love tea. all things tea. and have come to adore Chelsea's. The Staff are wonderful when i go there shopping. I never have time to sit and have a cuppa so i do it at home. But when i do go i always have my young daughter with me.. and she looks at the pretty things as she calls them the staff have never treated her as if she shouldnt be there. Seeing as i am trying to help her know the nice things in life, this to me is wonderful.. I would go to Chelsea's for this reason alone and do.

I was excited to go to this recommended tea room only to be disappointed in its atmosphere, service and savories. The selection is limited to afternoon tea, the room was crowded with little room with which to maneuver. The locals love the little cafe, feeling that it is quaint in their area. However, those who make regular treks to tea rooms will indeed be disappointed.

As a resident of Asheville, I've established a tradition of treating my visiting houseguests to afternoon tea at Chelsea's. There's no better way to end a day of shopping in the village than with their melt in your mouth scones topped with their wonderful Devonshire Cream! My friends always stock up on their apricot tea too! We love to shop both gift shops, finding unique items and gourmet foods everytime we visit!

My daughter and I visited on Labor Day weekend and had a very nice time. The food was very good and we loved the fresh fruit and cheese board. The raspberry honey mustard sauce was wonderful. It seemed to be very busy with two gift shops at each end of the tearoom. The teacups were very plain compared to the other severing pieces, but the food was excellent. The waitperson was very friendly and answered all needs. I loved the old homes this tearoom is housed in and they have a wonderful selection of gifts and savories to buy and take home.

My mom and I try to go to Chelsea's at least once a summer for lunch.  This was our first time for afternoon tea, and what a treat it was! We sat outside on the patio and drank one pot before our tea tray arrived. One tray was more than enough for the both of us. The food was very tasty as was the tea. However, the tea was served in mugs rather than teacups and we had to ask for lemon and sugar (bags). The tea selection was rather slim, but we thoroughly enjoyed the apricot tea we ordered.

In addition to enjoying numerous cups of Earl Grey, we sampled both main options: the cheese board, with three types of cheeses, fruits, and bread; and the Afternoon Tea Plate, which contained three finger sandwiches, an herb biscuit, two forkfuls of quiche, a scone with Devonshire cream and jam, a slice of cake (lemon curd), a chocolate covered cherry, a butter cookie, a heart-shaped shortbread cookie, a pecan cookie, two nougat cookies, and a small bowl of trifle. The trifle was the best I have ever had in my life. I give it a 4.5 out of 5 star rating. (The adjoining gift shop is name Chelsea's.)

I am a busy mother with limited time with my children. During a unique opportunity, I had a cherished brunch with my eight year old son. To this day, he will ask me; "Mom, when are we going on a date again to Kathleen's Tea Room?" A visit to this tea room, can make any day, a special date. The kiwi-strawberry, pink hot tea was a hit with him too. The quiche and scones were a hit with us both! I take all my special friends with me when I can.

I always take my out-of town visitors for "The Ultimate Tea" which never fails to ultimately impress them. Everyone gets to select their own tea in their own teapot (of course we share though). The three tier serving dish with sandwiches, scones and desserts is garnished with fresh flowers and tastes as supurb as it looks. Tea accessories abound here and the room decor is a wonderful relaxed setting and we girls always have the most delightful teatime.

I have had afternoon tea here twice, and both times I've been disappointed. The service was inattentive, and the servers lack basic tea knowledge. The manager didn't know how to decaf the tea for a pregnant guest. [Please note that the "decaf" method referred to here -- steeping tea for 30-60 seconds, pouring off the infusion, then re-steeping the same tea -- does NOT work. This is an urban legend. If you cannot tolerate caffeine for any reason, please do not rely on this method, which removes no more than 10% of caffeine. The only way to be sure that you are not consuming caffeine is to avoid true tea (Camellia sinensis). - Editor, TeaGuide]  The atmosphere is very contemporary, not dainty at all, and china is not even used. Food was unusual, and flavors were too overpowering for a proper afternoon tea. None of my guests cared for the food. Not worth the steep price.

This was the third time that we've been to this tearoom and the best experience to date. The tea selection is wonderful and they use all loose-leaf in individual teapots. The open-faced sandwiches were delicious (salmon, yellow tomato with basil, and thinly sliced cucumber with cream cheese). The other items were also extremely tasty, especially the mango jellied squares and the chocolate dipped strawberries. And the scones were also some of the best that I've ever had. We enjoyed currant and raisin scones, as well as cheese and rosemary scones. Everything was absolutely fantastic! I highly recommend this establishment to one and all.

We visited La-Tea-Da's for a "Traditional Tea" at $12.95 + 18% gratuity (their literature states this is added for groups of six, but it was added for our group of two). This tea includes: cucumber sandwiches (cut out in the shape of a teapot), butterscotch scones (WONDERFUL -- these can be bought to carry out) with lemon curd, fresh fruit, assortment of pastries. Also available is a "High Tea" at $16.95, which adds puff pastries filled with cheese and seafood. The food is delicious. The setting is a Victorian house. The entrance is not too appealing (carry out counter, etc.), but the dining room is attractive, and the tables are lovely. La-Tea-Da's encourages "young lady parties," and we applaud this idea. However, while we were having tea, another table consisted of two young women and two young girls (about 8). The girls did not sit still, but wandered about and made noise the entire time, rather distracting to the atmosphere.
Tea is served Tuesdays through Saturdays, from 3.30 to 5pm. Reservations are required, and a credit card number must be given to hold a reservation. While we thought the food was excellent and attractively served, we felt less than welcomed, both on the phone making the reservation and when we arrived in person. We had the sense that they prefer "parties" than mere groups of two.

This is really just a place to have lunch that happens to serve tea in teapots. Definitely not proper tea. The staff wore VERY casual clothes. Shorts, tee shirts and flip flops. Water was served from clear plastic cups. No half-n-half for my tea. Packets of sugar instead of sugar cubes. The tea was said to be loose leaf, but no leaves were seen. my tea was not strong enough. No scones! If what they served were scones, they were not traditional (very bisuity) and NO devonshire cream for them. The jam was the kind you get from a big jar as I saw them spooning it out from behind the curtain The cake moist and dense and very good. These folks could really use some major brushing up on their knowledge of tea houses. It's the small things that make a big difference I prefer a more formal tea, not an alice in wonderland type. It is a rather rude awakening when you are all dressed for tea to have your server walk in looking like she just came from a basketball game.

Located on the courthouse square of the small town of Clinton, NC, this delightful spot is well worth a drive. Vast array of delicious teas both cold and hot, (it is summer in the South!) loose and bagged teas, hearty lunch menu, as well as out of this world desserts and devine finger-foods to accompany tea. We also sampled the coffee, which was French-press style and most excellent. Did I mention the atmosphere? Victorian style decor with beautiful woodwork. Ladies in hats everywhere!! Come dressed up or casual.

The tea and the food at the Washington Duke Inn were wonderful. The tea selection was large and varied. The food was plentiful and quite delicious. The scones were the best that I’ve had in a tea-room. However, the experience was marred by the location of our table in relation to the bar. Individuals at the bar were loud and obnoxious and it was a constant distraction. Hopefully, next time our table will be located where serenity reigns supreme, and we won’t be subject to the bar noise.

I was attending a conference in Chapel Hill and found this to be the closest place to have tea. The room is lovely; it is the Inn's dining room. They serve loose tea in a teapot and by the end of the pot it is very bitter. There needs to be a way to remove the grounds after the tea is brewed. I was served tea sandwiches, fruit, and sweets on a tiered tray. Then 45 minutes later I was brought a tray of two different kinds of warm scones, clotted cream, lemon curd, and jam. Most of the party at another table had left before their scones because there was such a long interval and they didn't even realize they were included. An interesting way of serving tea! But, I would go back.

This is one of the best tea experiences I have ever had. The Inn is very elegant and the service has been consistently excellent. They serve a nice selection of Taylor's of Harrogate loose-leaf teas. The food is both delicious and delightfully dainty. The cranberry and chocolate chip scones were some of the best scones I have ever had. The only minor flaws I can find are the clumsy tea cosies they use and the lack of tongs for the sugar cubes. I highly recommend the Washington and Duke Inn for a memorable tea.

The service is superb. The shop next door is filled to the rafters with everything that a tea lover could possibly desire; take an entire afaternoon so that you are able to look through all the inventory. McDuff's caters to the lunch crowd who enjoy gourmet sandwiches and other superb delicacies! A must visit when you are in Fayetteville, for both lunch and Afternoon Tea.

Ruth works with us on our monthly themes and changes the menu from month to month at her discretion, and its always good. The scones are ever so delicious. The room is lovely, complete with a fireplace and a lovely water fountain. Its just a wonderful relaxing atmosphere where we are treated special by our hosts. We have been to other tea shops and this by far is our favorite place with our ladies group. Grays Chapel United Methodist Church Tea for Your Soul

The atmosphere is relaxing, the food well above average, the staff have a wide knowledge of the different teas and are helpful in making a choice. In wanting to try the tea room experience I did a lot of research of what was available in the area and, on paper, their value was the best. But actually being there the value was even higher for my travel time and money to go. I've taken friends in casual attire for a quick bite and other occasions as an adult dress up tea party and both were a delight. Just wish the location wasn't nearly an hour from home.

I've never had anything like it! The tea bread was a banana type of bread and so moist. The savories were a warm brie puff with great herby flavor, as well as chiecken salad (homemade) in a croissant and cucumber and cream cream sandwich. (We were give a choice of the savories). Steve is an excellent chef.. his soups are wonderful, all the "hot" items are beyond excellent and the vanilla-walnut scones that I am partial to, are heavenly. The desserts (if I can get to them during the meal) are always perfect. Thanks for making your passion our wonderful treat. The shop is great too. I dont think I ever leave the shop without some kind of purchase. Savannah's is my favorite place to visit.

Savannah's On Main is an experience like no others!! You walk in and before you ever get to the tea room you get to casually browse the beautiful boutique. Barbara, has picked out beautifully unique things that you just can't find everywhere. Then when you get to the tea room and you walk through the Iron Gate Door, you are taken away. You sit and have tea with your lunch in such a peaceful, elegant, atmosphere that when your done, you don't want to leave. The tea is like no other, for we had their signature tea, one of a kind. It was so delicious you definitely have to go through a few pots. Then the food, Steve, the chef, does a wonderful job; the crossiants, the scones, the tea breads, are all so delightful. My sister comes to visit me in North Carolina, and every time she comes, the one thing we have to do, is go to Savannah's On Main for tea. I always look forward to having tea at Savannah's On Main.

Girl Scouts spanning 60 years of existence had the Private Blend Tea with sweets and scones prepared specifically for the group. Everyone raved about the tea, the service, the decor and location. Thanks for providing such a wonderful location! Folks commented this is an event they will always remember.

If you have not visited Savannah's On Main you have missed a treasure. Steve and Barbara are truly delightful, they make you feel as though you have known them forever. The food is definitely "a cut above". I had the opportunity to experience their Victorian Tea Tray. The chicken salad croissant was delicious and the egg salad tea sandwich was by far the best I've ever tasted. The orange cranberry nut bread was so moist and yummy and the scones were great with their homemade Devonshire Cream and preserves. The miniature desserts were "the icing on the cake". Our teapot was kept full and warm and was delicious. Having Tea at Savannah's is a feast for your tummy. Browsing the gift shop is a feast for your eyes. From the gorgeous clothes to the handsome furniture, to "all things tea", if you don't find something to take home with you, then you are shopping with your eyes closed! I can't wait to go back and try out their new lunch menu - that changes every day! If you haven't been there, don't walk - run to Savannah's On Main in Hendersonville, North Carolina.

This establishment is very cute and seems almost hidden in plain sight. Practically across the street from the Post Office, I past this place for several years before realizing that it actually was a tearoom. There are only two tables for customers, and not much atmosphere, but that is offset by the exuberant charm and personality of the hostess. The tea selection is pretty good and the teas are served in teapots at the peak of perfection. The scones are small, but three are provided to each customer. The flavor is absolutely wonderful. One nice aspect of this tearoom is that you can select to keep the beautiful china tea cup and saucer for a very modest charge. All in all, this tearoom is a wonderful experience and I recommend it to one and all!

We came here on August 19, 2009 for my daughter's annual "birthday tea." This was the first time we had visited the Pegg House, and we couldn't have been more pleased. We found the new owner, Ruth Shaw, to be a very sweet, kind, and gracious host. We couldn't have asked for better service. Any and all our needs were met very promptly. The ambiance of the old house was very charming, as well. We will definitely be going back at some point in the future. Thank you, Ruth, for making our afternoon so very special!

We had the Chicken Pie w/Apple Salad, this was very good and unique. Small portions. We also had flavored ice tea that was, also, very good. We ordered 1 scone w/devon cream for $3.00 for dessert. The scone was just fair. The real problem was all related to service. My friend called ahead and booked reservations for 4 people. This was a birthday lunch & I drove a very long distance to get there. The person who answered phone did not tell her the policy of having to reserve their Pegg House Tea ahead, which was, of course, what we came to a tea house for!! How can they stay in business when they don't tell you that! Therefore, we had limited options. The waitress was not friendly or helpful. Of course, she wasn't an owner, so what did it matter to her? We still had a great time as we believe in making the best out of anything. Could have played lovely music & improved on service and would have been memorable.

This was a lovely tea room, although I did find areas that need improvment. Although I had made reservations, and got there on time, there was no one out front to greet me, and after five minutes I popped my head in the kitchen to let them know I was there. Tea was served warm, but not piping hot, with teabags in a teapot. The full tea was a feast with four different sandwiches, scones, sweets and fresh fruit. Everything was delicious although I did not try the bought cookies that were included. Instead, I purchased the dessert of the day (a fruit tart) that was excellent! The price for the full tea was less than I was used to so I didn't feel guilty about purchasing the fruit tart. If in the area, I will go back again!

Hospitality abounds. Marie Fish and family make all the delicious pastries, scones breads, and desserts right in the back bakery kitchen. They served us a 4 course afternoon tea; Savory-Puff pastry quiche, Dressed Scones w/ raspberry sauce and clotted cream, the cake was chocolate ganache petit fours and a big teapot shaped sugar cookie finished everything off. We first chose Earl Grey Cream Tea, then Day Dream tea that's hand blended.

The service was wonderful, everything you would expect from a high quality Tea room. I was there 3 yrs ago, but have been ordering tea from the shop ever since. The tea is wonderful, I have many favorites, My new favorite is Carnival! Didn't know if I should eat it or brew it. Great hot or cold. Then there are the green teas, fotune cookie, and spring flower, flavor is out of this world. I can't find tea anywhere else with the freshness and fantastic flavor that these teas have. I live in the poconos, PA. I order from them all the time. They always include little samples of teas and that is so nice, This is the best little tea shop I have found.

As owners of a tea room, we enjoy visiting other shops. Recently while on vacation, we enjoyed an excellent afternoon tea at the Tea Clipper. We were impressed by our warm welcome as Hannah led us to a lovely table at the window. The tea selections were outstanding and came perfectly prepared. The tiered tray was filled with a lovely selection of scones, sandwiches and sweets. It was obvious to us that they took their teas very seriously. After finishing we spoke with Elaine, the owner, and told her we would return on our next visit to the area. We highly recommend this tea room.

This is my favorite tea room to date in North Carolina. I have visited twice, and on both occasions I enjoyed it with my company immensely. The food, excellent in presentation and taste, was even better the second time than the first and no improvement was really needed. Elaine Gross, the owner, is passionate and knowledgeable about tea, and could be a mentor for me any day. She was so willing to share her experience and expertise with me, answered all my questions; I thank her for her guidance. Though a two hour drive I look forward to going back many more times with more friends, and I hope some day she'll be a colleague.

The Tea Clipper was a fabulous experience for both me and my two seven-year old daughters. We stayed for an hour and a half and enjoyed every minute of it! Four "teas of the day" were brought to our table to see, touch, smell, and choose from. We chose a pear green that was so delicious we brought some home. We also had a second pot of Victorian Earl Grey because we are Earl Grey lovers. The food was delicious but the best part was the service. The ladies there acted as if they were excited that we were "having tea with them." They were very knowledgeable about tea (especially the owner) and encouraged us to try something new. We will definitely be going there again, even though we have to drive two hours.

I visited The Tea Clipper two days in a row, it was so wonderful. Day one I was greeted by the owner, Elaine, and her daughter Emily, who were very knowledgeable and made me comfortable with the tea experience to come. Being an Earl Grey lover she recommended a Victorian Earl Grey which is Earl Grey with added roses and lavender, absolutely heavenly. With the pot of tea I enjoyed both by sight and taste a toasted lemon pound cake with raspberry curd sauce and of course a dollop of cream and raspberries. The second day I returned with my sister for a late luncheon. My luncheon consisted of delightful assorted tea sandwiches and desserts, and of course the same Victorian Earl Grey. My sister enjoyed an herbal infusion that surprisingly tasted more like a traditional tea. Her luncheon was quiche and a salad, both excellent. Everything about the tea room is perfect, from the décor to the tea presentation. The shelves are lined with rich black canisters of loose teas, all the tea accouterments one desires, and many lovely gifts. It is located in the same building as the local museum which makes it an extra special visit. This is certainly worth the journey.

The pleasure of afternoon tea should not only be one that soothes the soul, but also one that refreshes the mind and body. This quaint little bed & breakfast complete satisfies these requirements. The setting was the front porch of a "turn-of-the-century"  home located on a side street in the downtown area of Pittsboro, NC. The weather was perfect for an outside tea, as it was just a wee bit cool with just the slightest of breezes blowing. Our table was set with a crisp white linen tableclothe, linen and lace napkins, and English porcelin. The tea selection was just a little small, but with all the traditional teas included. The tea was prepared and served in individual teapots with cosies, without the loose-leaf or tea bag left inside. It was brewed for precisely the correct time to exhibit its wonder flavor. There was no worry about the tea becoming stronger or bitter as we sat there. The food was delicious! Four different types of sandwiches, plenty of scones, and the deserts were absolutely magnificent! Chocolate brownies, whole strawberries, and a blueberry-cheesecake tort that was out of this world! All in all this tea was one of the best that I have ever experienced! I will definitely return and I highly recommend The Rosemary House to all!

I enjoyed afternoon tea with a friend on a beautiful day. Rosemary House has a large, lovely front porch. The tea selection was nice, and the tea was prepared in individual pots with tea cozies. The menu is strictly vegetarian. The place setting was pretty, and everything was very clean and dainty. The food was average. Scones were very tiny and overdone. The sandwiches were inventive. The dessert tier needs a few more items. Overall, I think the best part of the experience here was the pretty front porch setting.

About an hour drive from Wilmington and a lovely ferry ride my friend and I arrived in Southport and found the setting and house very cute. The gift shop is nice and the tea room, though very small, is comfortable. There are five glass top tables for four with beautiful linens underneath, and lovely china plates, cups, and saucers, all different but attractive, and a crisp vintage linen white napkin and silver completed the presentation. So far so good!
Serving "light fare" is the understatement of the year however! Unfortunately we went for a light lunch and ended up having to go to another place after spending $19.66 (including tip) here. Laid in front of us were two china plates topped with doilies with next to nothing on it. I had to request a different iced tea as the "mint julep" iced tea's pure mint taste was not palatable, I didn't want to "send it back," I offered to pay for it, but explained nicely I was unable to drink it (they didn't charge me thankfully). The replacement iced tea was cloudy and slightly bitter. My friend ordered a single pot of Earl Grey and it came to the table with the tea leaves and teabag still in it, which we found objectionable as there was no slop bowl or good place to remove it to, and so it stayed and the tea got stronger. Offered were a plate of "assorted tea sandwiches, tea breads, and sweets" for $9, and another plate "assorted tea sandwiches and tea bread" for $6. On the bottom of the menu was a $2 charge for "plate sharing" so I inquired if the $9 plate had enough on it to be shared. I received a resounding "NO", so we each ordered the $6 plate.
There is nothing nice I can say about the "food," my friend and I couldn't look at each other when the plates arrived until we got over the shock of it. I've been to many teas and tea rooms over the years, but have never ever even come close to what I can only describe as a "rip off." Being served literally six bites of tasteless bread substances, garnished with two of the tiniest grapes, it rendered each of us speechless. The filling of the ONE tea sandwich was a slight dollop spread paper thin with peanut butter! A gingerbread "muffin" a Barbie doll could hold in her hand had the best taste, but I am not exaggerating about the size.
It appeared that maybe the "deal of the day" was the two scones served with lemon curd and jam for $4, but we'll never go back to find out. In good conscience if I were the tea room owner I could not sleep at night.

Today was my first visit to the tea room, and I cannot state adequately what a beautiful place it is, how attentive the service was, and how refreshing the tea was to my guest and me. The details of each Victorian room are museum-quality and thoughtfully executed. The owner-chef definitely has the eye for ambiance and the taste buds to deliver first rate tea. Southern charm abounds at the Ruby Red. Would you go back? Yes, can't wait!

A group us drove from Greensboro and I was blown away at such a darling place. The house was just beautiful, it was if we had stepped back in time. The staff were very friendly and made such a fuss over us. The basil chicken salad was some of the best I have ever had. You must visit this tearoom. My friends and I have visted alot of Tearooms in the past and we all agreed this one was our favorite by far. We will be returning soon.

We visited this quaint Victorian tea house on a cold gray December morning. We had a pot of peppermint tea for three of us. We visited the gift shop. The house was darling, very clean and decorated for the holidays. they served a wide variety of bulk tea in serving sized for 1, 3 or 6. A pot for 6 gave us enough to each have 2 cups. It was hot on arrival, and hot at he bottom of the pot. The service was excellent. Our witress was knowledgeable about the teas being served. she offered us wonderful sounding food. Regrettably, we had just eaten breakfas a short whil before. We had a pleasant, relaxing experience, that braced us for goig back out in the cold and  damp.

This is the sort of experience you would have if Lily Pulitzer and Marjorie M. Post hosted a tea in the Hamptons. Great Atlantic vibe without being to "beachy". Hardwood floors, french doors, white furniture and a river walk view. Nifty. Service is attentive and friendly, but not intrusive. Tea (there is an impressive list) arrives in an infuser with a timer so that you can remove the leaves from the pot at exactly the right moment. Food is scrumptious and plentiful from the Please-stop-me-from-licking-the-bowl seafood bisque to the sweets. OK, the blueberry scone is shortbread-like, sweet and served with sweetened cream which may make purists frown. I enjoyed it too much to care.

I did not realize the Wilmington Tea Room had been taken over by a new owner until my visit last week. Expect wonderful changes! My mother and I were greeted by a very friendly staff and seated, even without a reservation (previously a requirement). The food was excellent, everything fresh and delicious. The new owner made time to stop and ask us how we were doing, even though we could tell she was swamped. New atmosphere - wonderful experience! I had been wary in the past, but I'll be back often.

We visited this tea room for lunch. It is located on the waterfront of Wilmington, in an old building. It was quaint, clean, charming, the iced tea was very good, refreshing; and the array of goodies on our tray for lunch, was absolutely delicious! We couldn't eat all of them, so we took them back to our hotel room for a snack later, ummm!

We were greeted by a sweet girl (wearing flip flops..ugh!) who also was our server. Although the interior of this tearoom was charming, it was a beautiful Spring day and we asked to be seated outside, overlooking the water. The awning was not unfurled and we (the guests!) had to move our table to the sparce shade under the eave of the building. The fountain was not operating. No flowers or centerpiece of any kind on the table. They made no effort to match the outside area to the charm of the inside. Another table of guests (also stuffed under the eave) asked them to crank open the awning, which after 10 minutes they did, and cranked it only 6"! Why? The food was very good,  although small portions. We had to ask twice for silverware and lemon slices. After asking for napkins, we received 2 tiny squares. It was a week-day, with a moderate crowd, so I don't understand the lack of attention to even the most basic details. All-in-all, a charming place that needs much better management!

The food was excellent tasting, fresh, and thought it didn't appear bountiful it was more than enough to fill my Fiancee and I up with some to spare. Prices are reasonable, and the selection of teas is pretty good. After leaving I was inspired to make my own Scones, Lemon Curd, and Devonshire Cream.

I have visited the Wilmington Tea Room 3 times in the past year. Each time was a beautiful experience. I entertained my Sister and other family members there for her 73rd Birthday. We all wore hats and nice dresses. What fun! Then I returned with my two granddaughters (ages 5 and 8). They were dressed in fancy little dresses and learned how to drink tea properly, etc. The staff was so helpful and patient in showing the girls the proper way to enjoy a real tea  party! Every young lady should experience a tea room. My granddaughters want to return now for their individual birthdays. And we shall!!Wonderful Place!

My mother in law and I are delighted to have a tea house in historic downtown Wilmington. Dana the "Tea Mistress" made us feel right at home and although busy took the time to "chat" with us. The food was wonderful, alot of thought went into the menu.. The tea house was very tastefully decorated and an added delight is the baby grand player piano which added just the right musical atomsphere for our dining pleasure. We will most definately be regulars here. All he best to Dana and her staff.

I was meeting a friend for afternoon tea, I arrived early and was greeted by 2 women in flip plops/open sandles...can they do that in the food service industry? Anyway, my friend arrived and we were seated in the back of the tea room (we were the ONLY 2 customers in the place!) and we asked to be seated at another table...a bit closer to the water and away from where the staff was working by the kitchen. Our request was refused. We were told the other table (for two) was reserved. So we stayed put. When the other couple arrived, they did not like the location, so they were re-located! It was strange that we could not relocate in an EMPTY room. This was an hour before closing, and they did not have any other reservations OR customers the whole time we were there. Anyway,  m friend had to ask for another tea cup because the tea stains had not been cleaned out of her cup. This can and SHOULD be done with a mild clorox & soap solution each time the cups are washed...for home and commercial use. The tea we ordered arrived and we were left to time and strain our own tea. The sandwiches were good. We had to ask for forks which were needed for the fruit. The blueberry scone was very tiny and a bit dry. There was piano music playing wich sounded like someone was practicing on it...it was disjointed, nd not enjoyable at all. This is the only Tea Room in Wilmington. However I doubt that I will return...I'll drive 30 miles to a great one in Wallace...which is still open, despite the rumor to the contrary.

The owner really knows about tea. He's really nice and very helpful. We usually buy tea leaves to make tea at home. The store carries more kinds of tea than I ever knew existed and sells a variety of packaged snacks and biscuits to compliment your tea. The owner also occasionally teaches tea classes, which are really worth checking into, if you are a tea lover. I highly recommend this shop.
