Comments: The service at Tabitha's Tea was wonderful! Our
waitress was personable and fast. Food was exceptional
from beginning to end. We had 2 different kinds of tea, which
we both loved. We ordered the Queen's Tea, and everything
was delicious. They were very accommodating when I
mentioned an allergy issue. An overall fantastic experience!

Comments: My mother and I had a fantastic experience at The Tea
Cup, and didn't find the tea room to be anything like what
was described in the last reviewer's comments. We enjoyed the apricot
peach tea, as well as the kiwi strawberry tea. I highly
recommend both. We also had what I believe was called the Secret Garden Du
Jour, which includes the daily selection of salad, soup, sandwich,
and dessert. Their chicken salad sandwich is to die for, as well as
their homemade creamy parmesan dressing that I selected for the
salad. They have a selection of at least 5 different homemade
dressings. Oh, and we also LOVED the chicken artichoke brie
soup ... and how could I forget the scones (strawberry white
chocolate)!?! Everyone was friendly and the service was
impeccable. It's great to have another tea room in this area. Now,
we have two wonderful tea rooms to choose from in the Brandon
area that are both fantastic in their own unique way (The Tea Cup &
Victorian Grace).

Comments: Four Red Hat chapters recently
visited the tea room and found it to be a lovely
place. We were from different areas in and around
Orlando and some of us had been to a tea room
before and some had not. The settings, dishes, and
whole presentation were beautiful; however, we
were a late afternoon seating and felt like we
were being rushed to leave. The servers (with the
exception of one), although pleasant, left us with
the feeling we were intruding. We would have
appreciated a more lengthy visiting time with each
other since some of us drove quite a distance.
Also, we made our reservations six weeks out.
Communication in the reservation process was
lengthy and a little uncommunicative. Hard to
reach them and return phone calls. Notice: With
large groups, a deposit is required.

Comments: I've
visited the Grand Floridian for afternoon tea
several times in the past two
decades, and it is one of the premier tea
experiences in this country. No wonder Bruce
Richardson of Elmwood Inn fame has included it in
his book, Great Tea Rooms
of North America. What makes this tea room so
spectacular is its setting. I've never seen a more
beautiful setting to enjoy a leisurely, gracious
afternoon tea.
Tea is served in the Garden View lounge, which not
surprisingly overlooks the beautifully landscaped
gardens and lakeside setting of this grand
Victorian hotel. The hotel is a favorite of
brides, and it's not unusual to see a wedding
party posing for photographs during your afternoon
tea. Service is impeccable, with servers dressed
in tasteful Victorian attire of pale pink, gray,
and white. Oftentimes, music from the lobby's
piano or harp adds to the exquisite ambiance. Tea
is served in fine English bone china, with several
tea selections from Harney &
Sons. There is also a wide assortment of menu
selections, from
à la
carte to full teas, including
the Grand Tea (sandwiches, scones, and pastries or
trifle), the Prince Edward tea (duck terrine, pâté,
Stilton cheese, etc.) and a Sally Lunn tea (with
Sally Lunn rolls in place of scones.) There's even
a children's tea featuring chocolate milk with
peanut butter and jelly sandwiches. I had the
Grand Tea, without the sparkling wine which is
included, and enjoyed all three
courses. Seven tea sandwiches are served: salmon,
watercress, egg, chicken salad, onion tartlet,
Stilton and pear, and prosciutto-wrapped pâté
with pistachio nuts. All were good, though the
bread was a bit stale and the fillings were rather
thinly spread. But the second and third courses
are wonderful: the
scone and jam tart, followed by a selection of two
pastries from their pastry tray. The pastries in
particular are exquisite ... gorgeous swan-shaped
cream puffs, diminutive chocolate éclairs,
and yummy cheesecake, carrot cake, mocha mousse,
or key lime tart selections. If I were rating just
the second
and third
courses, I would classify the food as
"excellent." But the tea sandwiches,
though quite abundant in quantity, simply lack the
quality to be judged excellent.
All in all, a fabulous tea service ... one
not to be missed while in the Orlando area. And
quite a different, unexpected experience from the
sights and sounds of the Disney World theme parks.

Comments: We have just returned from
Florida and have successfully dodged storms and
"done" Disney World. My favorite part of
the trip?? Afternoon tea at the Garden View! It
was an oasis of peace in the midst of our most
physically grueling vacation ever! The tea room is
in the Grand Floridian Resort, which has a
Victorian theme. The waitresses had long dresses,
aprons, and caps, and nearby a man played lovely
music on a grand piano. My dad and I had the
Buckingham Palace Tea, which was $17.50 USD per
person. We had plenty of food, which included
finger sandwiches with salmon mousse, grilled pear
and cheese, cucumber/cream cheese,
watercress/cream cheese, and chicken salad. There
was also an onion tart, jam tart, and a scone that
was the most delicious I've ever had! They use a
pretty standard recipe, which I got to take, But
the difference is that they put the scones into a
steam chafing dish and they get deliciously soft
and moist. It was amazing! There was also
Devonshire cream and jam, followed by a choice of
pastries or strawberries and cream. We chose a
chocolate éclair, and a strawberry éclair made
in the shape of a swan. All the food was
beautifully made and presented. Our tea was a
special blend by Harney & Sons, made just for
the Garden View. The tea was great so I got a tin
to take home as it isn't in the Harney catalog.
After an hour and a half of bliss, we hopped a
boat to take us back to the Magic Kingdom. For me,
though, this break for afternoon tea WAS the
magic!

Comments: What a lovely change of pace
from the usual tempo of WDW. My mother and I
dropped in without priority seating reservations
on a Tuesday late in January. Disney frowns upon
no PS reservations most times of the year. Anyway,
we had the Tea for Two. Each of us was allowed to
choose our own tea. I had the house blend tea
which was very good. My biggest complaint was that
we were told all the teas were to brew at least
five minutes. By the end of the pot, which was
three cups, my tea was quite bitter. The food was
excellent. My mother really enjoyed the English
Trifle that was served for dessert. The best fun
was watching the four-year old girl who came in to
have the Peter Rabbit Tea with her Daddy. The next
best fun was watching my mother try not to fall
between the cracks of the cushions on the divan on
which she was sitting. Try the chairs unless you
are agile.

Comments: I have visited this tea room
several times and I am always disappointed. The
atmosphere is beautiful, which is why I enjoy
going. The loose tea they serve always tends have
tea leaves floating in the tea after it has been
strained through the tea strainer and is not the
most tasteful. I ordered raspberry last time and
did not find it that tasteful. The scones are very
small, nothing special, served with a very small
amount of Devonshire cream. The tea sandwiches are
okay, nothing unusual. The strawberries and
whipped cream were the best! The service was okay.
There is much room for improvement in the food and
tea so that they would equal the atmosphere of
this beautiful hotel.

Comments: This was my first visit to the Cozy Tearoom which
I would describe as warm and inviting without being overly
cutesy. They serve lunch as well as traditional tea. I had the full
afternoon tea which normally includes a scone with fresh cream
and jam, cup of soup, garden salad, quiche, tea sandwiches,
selection of sweets and pot of tea. They were out of quiche and
substituted a warm pastry filled with Curried Chicken filling
which was outstanding. Included in the sweet selection was a
carrot cake square topped with caramelized pinneapple and
almonds which can only be described as "to die for". It may
even convert chocoholics. Impossible to finish everything and
took food home with me. While there other lunch patrons were
ordering scones by the dozen. Everything is freshley made so
this is not the place to go if you only have a short lunch
break. The whole experience is delightful and should not be missed.

Comments: What an unexpected surprise finding this

frilly and male friendly also. Location was easy to find.
The toffee scones were scrumptuous as well as the tray

and always filled. The tea accoutrements and tablesetting was very
attractive. Also the gift shop had a wonderful collection of things to purchase as well as
current tea magazines. The experience at this tearoom

Quiche wonderful and chicken salad crescent wonderful.
The salad at the start is a nice touch. Desserts very
yummy and teapot shortbread cookie airbrushed pinkish
with colorful icing flowers on it beautiful. The tea room

Comments: The tea room itself is painted with
country-side murals and is decorated in a garden theme. Comparing it to other tea rooms I have been to, I
would say that it needs some 'softening'...something to
make it more 'homey'. The tables and chairs are metal
and not very comfortable. The tea was good...they offer
some unusual tea flavors, we tried a wine infused tea
and a chocolate tea...the wine infused was very good
(we weren't impressed with the chocolate). The sandwiches were good, we had chicken salad,
cucumber, and asparagus. The scones and Devonshire
cream were tasty. The desserts were ok...Service was
excellent. They have a cute little section for children's

needs something more to set it apart.

Comments: The British Pedlar is a
delightful place to stop for a not-too-formal
afternoon tea. The shop is decorated as a cottage
in the Cotswolds; the proprietors, two British
women, are very friendly. You may have a full
afternoon tea ("Ritz Tea", $11.00)
consisting of sandwiches, scones, and dessert; a
partial afternoon tea ("Savoy Tea",
$8.00), consisting of sandwiches and scones OR
dessert; or a cream tea. We naturally chose the
full tea! Sandwiches consisted of a choice of two
from: egg salad (the best I've ever eaten!],
salmon and cucumber, ham and tomato, cheese and
pickle. For scones, you may have your choice of
plain or raisin scone, served with double Devon
cream and your choice of jams or lemon curd. End
with your choice of desserts: strawberry tart,
banana tart, chocolate profiterôles, or Victorian
sponge cake. There are at least eight teas to
choose from, both black and green. The sandwiches
and desserts are superbly fresh, not prepared
until you order. The teapot was refreshed
regularly. Service was excellent and the
proprietors very friendly. We felt that we had
spent an afternoon in our beloved Britain.

Comments: After talking to a friend (who
had written a review for this tea room) I looked
forward to my chance to take tea at this tearoom.
I had eaten lunch there a few times, and was
impressed by the atmosphere, food, and
presentation (not the wait staff -- snobby).
However, this is where the enjoyment ended. I
tried making reservations for tea several times.
Almost everyone I talked to on the phone or in
person knew nothing about their teas -- not the
prices, what they served ... nothing! They managed
to lose my reservation the first time AND
essentially called me a liar about making them,
then tried to make me look as though I was
ignorant of the customs of afternoon tea. They
have one tea, which they call a "high"
tea (actually an afternoon tea). When I called to
make tea reservations, they put me down for lunch!
I would say that the staff at this tea room is one
of the big turn-offs for their snobbery, rudeness,
and lack of knowledge about any goings-on in their
own tea room.
The actual tea presentation, however, is
absolutely beautiful, with a large three-tier tray
loaded with goodies and garnished with fresh
flowers. It looks amazing! It catches everyone's
eyes in the room.
However, they must have changed their tea menu
since my friend G. Armstrong went. A large number
of the tea sandwiches were peanut butter and
jelly, which to me is NOT acceptable for an adult
tea. One of the other kinds was so unpalatable
that no one at my table could eat them. There were
many little dessert items on the tray that at
first glance looked good (and were), but none of
them were the homemade pastries they served in the
shop! They were all cookies and candies bought at
bulk food warehouses. There were no scones, which
I asked about, since they were supposed to come
with the tea. I was told that the chef no longer
made them. Unbelievable. The tea was your basic
grocery store bought tea, and the big kicker was
that if you order tea à la carte you get your
choice of flavors, but when you have
"high" tea you get no choice! I paid
more for that tea than anything else on their
menu, and it had shoddier food and choices than if
I just went in for lunch. I felt like I was
getting the bargain basement deal. If you're
looking for a good lunch, by all means go here.
But if you want a nice tea, go down the street to
the Windsor Rose Tea Room.

Comments: My mom and I just loved this
beautiful place. We called ahead of time to make
reservations for tea on our way to Mount Dora. The
tea although bagged was good, and the food was
fabulous. All sorts of interesting sandwiches from
asparagus and egg cream on a marble bread to
salmon and cream cheese. The cream puff was the
best we have ever had. It was truly enough for
four. Very affordably priced. Since it was June in
Florida, we also had raspberry iced tea, which was
light and refreshing. The décor is somewhat
Shabby Chic/old Florida.
The elegant yet inviting atmosphere and gracious
service caused us to come back the next day for
lunch. We did not want to leave Mount Dora without
another visit. For lunch we had the blackened
chicken salad (without chicken for me) with honey
lime vinaigrette, cranberries, walnuts, feta
cheese, and green apples. Fabulous! Really! And of
course, for dessert, the cream puff! I also
overheard others just raving about the carrot
cake, but I had to have the cream puff again. Can
you imagine, twice in two days? It was that good!
We were slightly embarrassed (not really) to be
back so soon. But after listening to the tables
around we got the impression, we were not the only
ones.
In a word, we loved The Garden Gate. Our only two
suggestions are to serve loose tea and offer
scones à la carte. If you are in Mount Dora,
don't miss this gem. And remember if you want tea,
make reservations the day before.

Comments: A friend and I recently went to this
tearoom for afternoon tea. We ordered the Windsor Tea
for Two ($30), peach tea and Taylor's vanilla tea. Both
teas were delicious and the fact that they were served
in teabags and not loose did not seem to pose a problem or a lack of flavor. The food was served on a
two tier presentation and was probably more food (for a
tea) than I've ever seen before. TWELVE tea sandwiches, 2 HUGE (HUGE!) scones, 4 pastries, and
2 HUGE slices of cake. I would have liked some fruit or
something maybe not so "heavy" but overall it was delicious and filling and we took all the
desserts home. The owner walked around and talked to guests and was
a real pleasure! (And I usually don't pay much attention
to that sort of thing.) It was a GREAT overall tea and I

this charming tea room and gift shop to a British
couple who, I'm happy to say, are
maintaining it as beautifully as it has always
been run. Whether it is 90 degrees or 70 degrees
outside, inside this restaurant/tea room/gift
shop, Vera Lynn sings quietly in the background,
and chintz flowered covered tables welcome you.
Waitresses in long black dresses with crisp white
aprons quietly bring your tea sandwiches,
pastries, and scones with clotted cream and
strawberry preserves, and I can relax and enjoy
this most civilized repast in the heart of
touristy Florida.

Brambles

Meal: Lunch. Type of tea: Loose and
teabags. Served: In a teapot.
Tea: Excellent. Food: Excellent. Service:
Excellent. Appearance: Excellent.
Comments: Though a little hard to find (tucked in an
alleyway off posh 5th Avenue South, Naples main shopping street), it was well worth looking for. Brambles
is a really charming place and reminded me of tearooms
I've visited in England. The owners are English and it
shows in the quaint decor. We had the home-made
quiche and a Brambles Delight, the full afternoon tea
served on 3-tier trays. The quiche was 'to die for' and
was served with salad garnish and home-made mango chutney. The
afternoon tea had delicious finger sandwiches, scone with real clotted cream and
strawberry jam, and little pastries. It was all delicious,
but the scone was fabulous, big and moist with raisins.
We saw some other dishes going by and they looked amazing, especially one called Amy's Fruity Chicken (I
asked what it was). They have pastries for dessert, not
all homemade but all looked delicious. They do have
wonderful homemade strawberry-rhubarb pie. They have
40 different teas, the waitresses wear traditional black
dresses with lacy aprons, there is tinkly piano music
playing and it is the most peaceful and charming place.
Service was friendly, quick and efficient, despite the fact
they were very busy. There is a great gift shop as well,
with china, chocolates, gifts, cards and tea accessories
- I bought the cutest tea cozy. Finding a place that has
delicious homemade food at reasonable prices in a high-end town like Naples was great and I look forward
to going back again - and again!
Would you go back? Yes, can't wait!

Comments: This is a very attractive and
busy tea room that has a full lunch menu in
addition to afternoon tea. The food I saw going to
other tables looked delicious. My only complaint
and why I could not give an excellent rating for
food was the sweets on the tea tray. All were
store bought or packaged, the selection was poor
and even the lone tiny éclair (for two people)
tasted old. The scone and sandwiches were great.

Tea: Good. Food: Fair. Service:
Excellent. Appearance: Excellent.
Comments: I was so excited to discover a
tea parlor in Naples, Florida listed in the Guide
to Tea Rooms and Tea Shops when I was planning my
vacation to visit my parents. When I mentioned the
name, my mother immediately said she knew exactly
where it was. In fact, it turned out she didn't,
and we had a bit of a hassle finding it since it's
not on a main street but instead is in a sort of
square; however, the sign for it is clearly
marked.
Atmosphere -- loved it. The tea room consists of a
large room with tables all around. It wasn't
crowded when we arrived so we had our choice of
tables.
Service -- excellent. Our server was extremely
gracious and attentive. No complaints there!
Tea -- good, but not excellent. A good choice of
teas but mainly I was disappointed in that the tea
was in bags and not brewed loose in the pot,
something I've come to expect from good tea rooms.
It was actually kind of surprising, since the
attached shop sells a large selection of loose
teas. We chose an Assam which despite being in a
bag was still quite good.
Food -- so-so. I have to admit, I was a bit
disappointed. We chose from the lunch menu which
offered items such as salads, quiche, and
sandwiches. I don't know if they offer a
traditional tea (tea sandwiches, scones, etc.) but
if they do, they should have given us that option.
I chose the Ploughman's Lunch which was okay, but
not outstanding. My Dad had the salmon, which he
complained was "chewy"; whereas my Mom
had the quiche and had no complaints. We decided
against dessert; I would have perhaps liked a
cookie or something small (even a small scone) but
all the dessert offerings were in the way of rich,
heavy cakes.
The tea shop attached to the parlor is great -- a
good selection of both loose and bagged teas as
well as wonderful, whimsical teapots (although on
the expensive side) and other tea utensils -- as
well as chocolates. I would recommend this tea
room mainly because of the wonderful atmosphere
and excellent service. I hope that they consider
offering a more traditional tea in addition to the
lunch offerings, and also improve the quality of
the food.

Comments: We arrived at Elizabeth's just before closing time
(due to travel-time misinformation). Even so, Elaine
greeted us cheerfully and reassured us that the staff was glad we had
come. We enjoyed lunch with delicious raspberry iced tea,
which was tasty and refreshing. The hot tea (Spring Song, or
Monk's Tea, a black loose tea) was excellent and served from a
pot. We also enjoyed the lovely decor and ended our time by
selecting some of the merchandise for sale in the gift shop. The
two of us have visited many tea rooms throughout the south,
and we heartily recommend Elizabeth's for a sweet time of
quiet conversation in a warm atmosphere. The food, tea,
and service were among the best.

Comments: I heard so much about this place I decided
to drive to it and see what the fuzz is about and, boy,
what a disappointment! I paid $3.50 for a soda type
drink that was supposed to have "energy" herbs and I
was even warned it might keep me up at night... for
nothing! I know herbs, I manage a health food store, and
this drink did absolutely nothing for me. It was as bad
as drinking Arizona Tea, I swear! I then decided to have
an appetizer. My, what a mistake. $5 whole dollars for a
few chips and a small 6 oz. cup of what they call "salsa". Let me just say this: This is
no "salsa" and as it is it was the worst tasting "salsa" I had in my life by
far: Huge chunks of cucumber with some herbs and that's it. I'm for real, that was it. The chunks were so big
they kept breaking my chips so I had put the "salsa"
cup to my mouth and tap it so the freaking cucumber
pieces would fall out, and I'd follow that with some
chips. Most of which, by the way, were all broken and
small. After that I was really scared to order any of the
main dishes since I didn't want to get ripped off a 3rd
time. Truly a horrible experience, and a huge
dissapointment. The place is very small and uncomfortable to boot. What a waste of time, gas and
money.
Would you go back? Sorry, no.

Comments: We had a difficult time finding the tea room. The
location was cute, but the restaurant itself felt very closed

service was exceptionally slow and we were offered
excuses. The tea was average, the sandwiches were not good. The rest
of the food was fair. I have two other friends who eat at that

Comments: Pickwick's does not serve an
authentic English afternoon tea. It is
Americanized. The tea was unfortunately not brewed
well. They used tea bags, only two, for a large
pot of tea, which resulted in very weak, very bad
tasting tea. Even when we complained, we were
brought only another tea bag to put into the tepid
water of the pot. The food was good, but
overpriced. The selection of confections (finger
sandwiches, scones, etc.) with the afternoon tea
was extremely limited. The huge surprise came
post-bill. I paid with my debit card and
authorized the exact amount of the bill, leaving
the tip on the table. However when I checked my
online banking, I discovered that I'd been charged
an extra 20% without my authorization, bringing
the tip in at about 35%. My afternoon tea for two
ended up costing me almost $50.00. I'd never heard
of such an unethical practice in my life and will
never go there again.

my tea it would have been over $50.00 (not including my

Poor. Appearance: Fair.
Comments: We were expected and not drop-ins (4 in
our party). Only the owner and 1 other person were
working. A large party was seated first so we had to
wait quite a while before being asked about something
to drink. Each time we needed something, we had to
track down someone. It took over 30 minutes before we
had any food and no scones. We were told that they
forgot to put them in soon enough (how long have they
been doing this?). Before leaving, we to ask about the
scones we never received. All the waiting and not having
close to what we expected ruined the day for us. A
partition of sorts would help the enviroment of the area
in the first room as it gives the feeling of sitting in the
gift shop. The lighting needs to be dimmed considerably
to get rid of that 'cafeteria' feel. The food and tea were
superb but the service left us with a bad taste in our
mouths. I live quite a distance away so not sure if I
would go again unless they hire more help.
Would you go back? Maybe.

Comments: Unlike many of the other reviewers, my
small party (5 of us) all found the food to be excellent!
Between us we tried the Cornish Pasty, Chicken Salad
Sandwich on a wonderful rosemary bun, Chicken and vege soup, and a salad (cannot recall the
name of the salad). The service was rather slow, but the shop was
also extremely busy at the time due to a large party
arriving around the same time as mine. Their Italian ice cream was delightful as well!
Would you go back? Hope so, but we don't live nearby.

Comments: It
has been a long time since I have enjoyed myself
so much as yesterday when I attended a bridal
shower at this restaurant. Everything about it was
wonderful. The staff and the owner went out of her
way to please us ... the food truly awesome. I had
the high [sic] tea and it was packed with
such wonderful things. The scones were delectable
(we all took boxes home there was so much). And
the tea, fresh from India, was the best I have
ever had. Not a teabag in sight. Lots of us bought
tea to take home. Her Princess Diana quilt and
memorabilia were lovely; it deserves recognition.
A truly amazing event and we have already made
reservations for our red hat ladies next week.

Comments: My
friend and I frequent tearooms throughout Florida
and this one, by comparison, is the most
disappointing. While our server was pleasant, the
food was not. It was dry and looked (as well as
tasted) like store bought (from SAM'S??). Our tea
was quite weak. We were served teabags left in the
teapot to become bitter. Overall, we felt it
lacked the décor and calming ambiance for a
relaxing afternoon tea. It will be hard to give

new to the area, my husband and I were searching
for a good tea room. We came upon this place while
walking downtown. The ambiance is nice with two
separate rooms decorated with china and English
treasures. I was not greatly impressed by the
food. I ordered a cream tea tray and was served
nothing more than whipped cream. The lunch was
mediocre and and not in as "English" as
other tea rooms we've visited. There is also not
much selection. I would recommend them for tea
only. Also be aware they are a little pricey for
what they offer.

Comments: I
happened to be walking back to the hotel and
passed this adorable little tea room, so
beautifully decorated. There are many lovely gift
items throughout the room and there's a separate
area in the back with more tables for guests.
There are no set hours for tea in this
establishment. For a very reasonable price I had a
large pot of delicious tea, small triangular
sandwiches, and a freshly baked piece of apple
cake, all served on pretty china. Service,
ambiance, and cleanliness were excellent. There
are so many things for sale here, from teapots to
photos/paintings to sweets. The door was open on
this bright sunny day and the classical music in
the background rounded out a perfect tea time.

Comments: There
were nine of us who attended high [sic] tea
and shop was very nicely decorated in a Victorian
décor. The tea, sandwiches (an assortment of
cucumber, chicken and egg salad, and seafood
salad), scones (with jam and Devonshire cream) and
other sweet pastries were all delicious, and the
service was wonderful. Our server kept the teapots
full of delicious, freshly brewed tea. We would
definitely recommend this establishment to those
wishing to experience a traditional English tea.
Note
from TeaGuide: Afternoon tea is the meal served in
mid to late afternoon, consisting of light
"snack" foods -- finger sandwiches,
scones, pastries -- and accompanied by tea.
Service is often elegant, with the best china,
silver, and decorations. High tea is an evening
meal, served after 6pm and usually later, and is a
much heavier, full meal, as often accompanied by
ale as by a cup of tea. High tea is the equivalent
of our dinner or supper; it's a homier meal served
with regular china and flatware -- very *un*fancy. "High" does not denote
"elegant" -- it refers to the height of
the table where the meal is served! Afternoon tea
is often referred to as "low tea."

Comments: This Tea Room changed owners about 3
years ago. The tearoom is warm and inviting, as if enjoying
tea in someone's living room. The owner is British and
makes all the food herself. There is always a nice selection
to pick from. If you leave hungry it's your fault. The serving
are very generous. I rarely finish my meal unless it's a bowl
of soup or salad only. I take home leftovers, which do not
last the day. My husband or son finish what I brought
home. Scones are excellent with real devon cream and
strawberry preserves. Traditional finger sandwiches and
wonderful desserts. Never disappointed!! If your in a hurry
let them know, otherwise tea is meant to be lingered over
which you have time to do and enjoy the experience.

My only complaint: outside is not attended to very well
and large windows are filled with various papers scattered here and there of announcements and such.
What mostly bothered me was some of the cabinets especially in the dining area were filled with dust which
the tea cups sat on that was used to serve tea in. It
wouldn't take much to make things look as good as the

Comments: DISAPPOINTED! I made reservations via
email, confirmed on January 23, 2007, for me and my
mother to enjoy a "Light Victorian Lunch" on February
6, at 2pm. It was a special event and I was visiting
from Austin, TX. My Mom and I arrived for our 2pm reservation. A very confused Cindy Falco answered the
locked door, after we rang several times. She had no
idea why we were there! She had not taken down the
reservation, although she was the person with whom I
made it. I was very disappointed and embarrassed as
this was my treat to my Mom - a surprise, no less - for
her birthday! Cindy apologized, gave us each a flower,
and hugged us. She offered to reschedule, but it was
too late - I was returning home the next day. We had
arranged our entire schedule around this outing. Some
surprise. All in all, it was a very big let down.
Would you go back? Sorry, no.

recipes for what we ate (my favorites: mini
quesadillas with chèvre and a fruit salsa, the
scones with marmalade, and butter cookies). The
tea was fabulous, and I was so happy to be able to
purchase a box of it to enjoy later! I will return
to the RTR as often as possible! :D

Comments: I attended a party at this
adorable tea room and want to add the food was
delicious, as was the tea. They served heart
shaped scones with clotted cream and jam, cucumber
sandwiches with herbed cheese, chicken salad
croissants, and mini BLTs that were incredible.
This tea room also has a great gift shop

Comments: This is my favorite tearoom in
the area, and I've sampled a few! I always take
out-of-town guests here. However, I've been
disappointed with the "special event"
teas they've held. Not worth the inflated price.
They have a wonderful selection of teas that they
serve and sell for take-home, but you must make a
special request to order something other than the
specified "tea of the day." Wonderful
selection of accoutrements: antique and new
teapots and serving pieces, honey, special sugars,
spoons, and so forth.

am never disappointed. I've been there for regular
afternoon tea and also for many "Special
Event Teas." The food is excellent and
imaginative. The desserts are superb and
plentiful! Every detail is attended to. The staff
is very friendly. The atmosphere is very relaxing
and inviting. I recommend this tearoom to everyone
and often take people along with me who have never
experienced tea. This way, they are introduced to
the best!

Comments: My friends and I attend this tea room regularly, it
is our favorite and its simply amazing and delicious. Large
selection of teas to choose from and they are HOT not warm,
which always irratates me at other tea rooms, I like my tea hot!
The food is all made on site, not frozen or bought and then
brought in. The portions are healthy and the variety is great.
The chicken salad is the best i've ever had and the scones are
crunchy on the outside and soft on the inside with cream AND
jam, we don't get jam at other tea rooms and I really like
that. The service is always so friendly and warm. The atmosphere is
elegant and shabby chic in the cute little bungelow house with
the boutique that I can't stay away from buying something
every time I go to tea here, which is not often enough, LOVE IT!
Would you go back? Yes, can't wait!

and I are frequent visitors to tea rooms in our area. Two
other friends w/us had never been to a tea room - one is English.
Food was great except for the scones - hard and dry. Loved the
interior w/its high ceilings, glass transoms over doorways, and
hardwood floors. Nice selection of gifts, cards and teas for
purchase. Would give the sandwiches 5*****.
Would you go back? Maybe.

Comments: This is a second visit to the
Empress Tea Room. Our first visit was shortly
after it opened and we experienced extremely poor
food quality and service . Curiosity prompted us
to return a second time to see if things had
improved. The food was much better this visit and
the tea was excellent. The service, however, was
once again extremely slow and inattentive. There
was one server for a full room of twenty -- it was
obvious they are understaffed. Our server was very
sweet and cordial but disappeared into the kitchen
frequently. We sat looking at our tiered server of
food, waiting for plates, for twelve minutes, and
had to go search for a server twice to bring us
more tea! The décor is beautiful and food is
tasty -- but service continues to need
improvement. I won't be returning any time soon.

that I used to eat when living in England. How can this
