Tea: Good.  Food: Good.  Service: Good.  Appearance: Average.
Comments:
Tea was served on pretty china, but would have preferred cloth napkins over the paper napkins that were available. The sandwiches were quite good and the scone was served warm, although seemed more bisquit-like than the scones I'm used to. Employees were pleasant.
Would you go back?

The shop is very nice, and really was just what I would expect back home. The service was in no way remarkable ... Brits have no sense of customer service like we do in America. I notice it when I go home to England ... no friendly greeting, or "how are you's" - just there to make the sale and ring you up. I enjoyed my visit because it was soooo English. I don't typically shop there as their prices are very high. Nice very English shop. A little taste of home.
Would you go back? Maybe.

I love this tea room! It's quaint and very personal; it's a real treat to visit. I feel like family when I go there and it's a lovely place to shop for my favorite treats. There is a great variety of sweets and traditional English fare to purchase. Sometimes I stop in just to do that! This is a tea room you will want to add to your "must visit" list. I have never been disappointed and I'm looking forward to my next visit!

Visited: July, 2009.  Meal: Cream tea. Type of tea: Loose leaf. Served: In a teapot.
Tea: Excellent.  Food: Excellent.  Service: Good.  Appearance: Excellent.
Comments:
I went out of my way to visit the Dushanbe after having loved the tea and atmosphere when visiting last year. Again, the tea and food were excellent but we were disappointed to find their new policy of having to reserve 24 hours ahead for a cream tea. We still had a great lunch (hummous plate, ceviche, thai curry) with tea and amazing desserts, the gingerbread and tres leches were awesome! IF you are in Bolder, don't miss the Dushanbe!

What happened to this place? Are there new owners who don't know how to run a restaurant? It is still breathtakingly beautiful to look at but no longer enjoyable to go for tea or food. On this visit our tea was over-brewed and a little bitter. They did replace it when asked, and the second time it was under-brewed and lacking that good tea flavor. (I guess they over-compensated.) Even some of the food was under-cooked. And the service: Once we asked for the tea to be replaced - correctly, I think, since this is a tea house - they pretty much snubbed us! We could barely get their attention to order dessert, and they never removed the used dishes from our table. None of the staff would look us in the eye, so maybe they know there's a problem. I used to come here all the time but this is the third time we've been disappointed here so I'm sorry to say we won't be back. It really breaks my heart to lose this tea house. I'll be watching the reviews here to see if the owners can turn the place around.
Would you go back? Sorry, no.

I took my 93 year old aunt to the Dushanbe tea house. We were looking forwared to having a pleasnt day. Everything was very unpleasent We had a 2:30 reservation We were not seated until 3:30 Due to the hostesses mistake. even though most tables were open. I complained and complained but it  fell on deaf ears. The Hostess was extremely rude and uncaring. We even watched her get into a verbal argument with another customer as well. We missed our lunch (they only serve until 3) All they served us was nasty tasting very expensive appitizers because they said they were out of everything. It was a very disappointing misrable expierence. This is a very beautiful and unique place but they need to get over themselves and practice better customer service.

If you are a tea lover and in the Boulder area, this teahouse is a must-see. It's worth a visit just to see the building with its beautifully carved and painted panels. They have a large selection of excellent loose leaf tea. I had a pot of Formosa Jade oolong which was wonderfully floral and sweet. I also purchased some of their Jade Spring which is the house specialty green tea. At $3.75/oz, this was a real bargain. I've had teas priced a lot higher that weren't as good. Even the tea skeptic in our group liked both of these teas. The food menu has offerings from all over the world, and all three of us were very pleased with our choices.

This very special teahouse is as unique and beautiful as the city it's in. The teahouse's airy interior, complemented by the gently splash of the courtyard fountain, is a soothing place to wile away an hour or two. In the summer, the small tables outside are a wonderful place to enjoy the gorgeous Colorado sunshine. While the service by the mostly college student staff can be spotty, the Dushanbe Teahouse is lovely for a spot of tea at whatever time of day. Their gingerbread, served with the most gorgeous tea sauce, is to die for!!!

The Boulder Dushanbe Teahouse was a gift to the City of Boulder from her sister-city Dushanbe. The tea house has hand carved wooden posts and hand painted ceilings and walls. There is a lovely fountain in the center of the tea house. You can dine inside or outside by the Boulder Creek. This is a great place to bring out-of-town guests as it is a "one-of-a-kind" tea house. The food is excellent and the prices are reasonable.

The Trident is a unique venue, espically when you realize that during the warmer months they show movies and have poetry readings on the portch out back. The employees are pleasant and the tea is nice, nothing overly above average, but just right. I do like that it's just a little off the beaten path from the usual pearl street mall crowd, it's more often students and professors from the university. I definately reccomend this if you want to go out with a friend or two to chat, or even to talk up a little conversation with the locals.

This is a very casual place. The front is a shop selling British foods.  They have a very good selection of English cheeses. In the back of the shop are a few tables where tea is served. The tea was PG Tips. It was steeped to perfection before being brought to the table. The leaves or bags (I don't know which it was) were not left in the pot to get bitter. It was a huge pot and piping hot. The sandwiches and biscuits were standard stuff, but tasty. The shop sells a variety of English teas in addition to PG Tips. These included Taylor's of Harrogate, Typhoo, and Yorkshire Gold.

This place is just like tea rooms I've visited in Windsor and Coventry! Complete with plastic tablecloths and pictures on the walls of the Royal Family! The food is typically English -- but better. The tea is the best aspect of this place. It is hot, served appropriately, with cream and sugar, and the waitress comes by frequently to check the pot and replenish it if needed. A comfortable place -- just like relaxing in a friend's kitchen!

I grew up in England and love a good cup of tea when I'm out and about. This is the best cup of tea in Colorado Springs! While there are other places that have more atmosphere, this is where to go for a real, delightful, hot cup of tea! The scones are not good, though. They taste microwaved and a bit stale, even with the cream and jam. The other food is great, if you like English food. Its one of my favorite places in Colorado Springs! I have visited there many times and have never been disappointed.

They only serve afternoon tea from 2.30 to 4.30pm on Tuesday through Saturday, and it costs $7.25. I arrived at 1.50, and ordered a pot of tea and scones, and it was $6.25 ... so go after 2:30! The owner is British, and the selection of British items for purchase is wonderful!

Comments:
I attended the "Valentine's Day Yea with my mother, sister and daughter. I was completely disappointed in the experience. Glen Eyrie and the tearoom were absolutely gorgeous, but the actual meal and service left much to be desired. First they brought us a platter of berry crumble and chocolate bundt cake that looked like they came from a grocery store. I had to ask the server if we were supposed to eat this first! Answer, no. We were then served salmon cakes, but we all had different salads. We never saw the cashew chicken salad, or any of the other food mentioned on the website from when I booked the reservations. That was it for the meal! My daughter ended up eating the fruit centerpiece because everything tasted lukewarm and "yucky". And to top it all off, NO SCONES!!! What kind of high [sic] tea is that? The tea was the only bright spot. The event was VERY over priced at $25 a person! I was very disappointed in the food and the service. Total bummer for such a beautiful location...
[Note from the TeaGuide editors: High tea is a hearty evening meal, equivalent to the American supper. Scones are not served for high tea, although they are a favourite component of afternoon tea, otherwise known as low tea.]

The ambience was provided by the group of women I was with, and the gorgeous castle at Glen Eyrie. The tea was a major disappointment, one pot black tea one pot decaf herbal for a table of 8 women! The waitress refilled water glasses repeatedly but never the tea which was not very hot, I dont think they even boil the water. The food was ok but not traditional, scones were hard like the starbucks type. Scones served first, then the 'savory' food which was peculiar-pastry type things with fillings, mini quiche, deviled egg, NO SANDWICHES! That is very odd. THe spinach filled pastry was really gummy. There was small chocolate candy in paper like you would get at a restaurant. THe waitress simply disappeared never to be seen again. No music which would have been nice. Just a food mill attitude. I've been enjoying tea for years and they just don't get it.

They claim to serve a "Victorian Tea" yet I do not recall quesadillas being served in any type of British lunches! I asked the waitress why and she could not provide an explanation. It was very disappointing, the only thing British about our lunch was the pot of tea and nothing else. The food was awful, as an ex-pat living in the USA I really was hoping to find a decent place to get high [sic] tea.

I would recommend reservations. It was pretty busy the day we were there. The servers were very attentive. The only complaint is that they left the tea leaves in the pot but a server did come by to add hot water occasionally. I took my mother to the Brown Palace while she was visiting us just to have a look around. They were able to seat us for tea without a reservation. Everything was delightful. It was well worth the cost ($20-25).  I ordered the Palace Tea and she ordered the Chocolate Tea -- each little dessert had some chocolate in it. The sandwiches were delicious and they offered a second plate of them to us, which we took! My favorite were the Curry Egg Salad sandwiches. They served two types of scones to each of us. I am quite picky about my scones. The texture was different, but they were wonderful. All the little desserts were wonderful. Next time, I'll order the Chocolate Tea myself!
Our actual tea to drink was served in individual pots. I had their House Brand. They do use loose leaf teas, but left the leaves in the pot. They poured additional hot water into our pots, but I would have preferred to have the tea brewed and decanted to avoid bitterness. Otherwise, I wouldn't change a thing!
The piano player and harpist were both excellent and the service was impeccable.  I can't wait to go back!

My sister-in-law and I regularly have high [sic] tea at the Brown Palace. It is such a pleasure! The service is beyond excellent. The staff recognize us, and have occasionally comped our tea, because we are such regulars. Each of the servers seems genuinely interested in every guest. There is a pianist, providing beautiful accompaniment. The food is exquisite!!!! Whenever we have a special occasion, or a particularly special out-of town guest, we take them to the Brown Palace. And whenever we can sneak away from the office, to the Brown we go! If you are EVER in Colorado, you MUST go to the Brown for tea! They also serve a lovely salmon lunch with tea. Delicious!!!!

Also in stock are crafts from England and Wales, which tend to sell fast but are constantly being replaced. The owners, Bud and Joyce Mahn along with their top notch English staff, will make your visit a pleasant and relaxing experience

Cano's serves loose tea (yes, really), freshly brewed by the pot. The menu is 3 or 4 items and seating is very limited. Lunch is affordably priced and includes a pot of tea, lunch, and scones with Devon cream and jam. The food is fresh, hot, and delicious. The owner is Welsh (Boor da') and always serves the tea with the comment "Let it brew." A Victorian Tea happens every December and they seem willing to accommodate (with advance notice) some special parties, i.e. over four, or wanting lunch late. No tea is served on Sundays except in December. A very good selection of pots and tea sets; British and Welsh paraphernalia and food items, cheese/sausage etc. Intimate and relaxing.

Took 2 80 yr. olds and 2 58 yr old ladies for a 80th birthday tea celebration. We had two different pots of tea, one was a lavendar mix and one an orange spice mix. We each had a 1/2sandwich and salad. The service was awesome. They are very welcoming, warm and accomodating. The room is small and charming and casual. I will be going again tomorrow. I have found a new favorite place. I love this place, the people make it the best!

This is my favorite of all the tea shops and coffee shops I've been to. It just feels the most comfortable and has the best food. On top of that, the Broadway location is the most convenient. I like to go with a friend and have a couple cups of Darjeeling green over a game of chess. It's like taking a vacation!

Curiosity brought me into this little nugget of a tea shop when cruising for antiques on South Broadway. I was alone and immediately fell into conversation with the friendly owner over a cup of the most delicious tea and grilled sandwich I have ever tasted. I got an education about tea (and life) from this delightful person. I’ve gone back again and again with friends – can’t seem to stay away. Drink, food, soothing environment, mesmerizing “chandelier” – everything was a source of wonder here, alone or with friends.

I found this tea room by chance, and couldn't be happier. Located in a historic landmark building in Denver, the setting is beautiful and the owners will happily give a tour with history and facts following tea. I was very impressed. The only improvement that I would have made would be to have a  teapot of my own from which to refresh my cup instead of relying on the waitress to refill my cup. The food was delightful and the lemon curd for the scones was sublime! Enjoy!

We visited this tea room for my birthday with a small group. The tea was very good and the food was tasty as well... however the service was rather irritating. We had reservations for our party but they seemed unprepared to seat us when we arrived. We were shoved into a corner rather uncomfortably. Shortly after we were served our tea a party for a baby shower arrived and we were left to our own defenses after that. It was not exactly the celebration I was hoping for needless to say I will not be having another birthday tea with them.

I live in Jackson, Mississippi and found this tea shoppe's website prior to visiting Denver. I arrived with a friend from the Denver area and was greeted by the warmest and attentive staff. The selection was quite adequate. The ceylon tea we had was fantastic and the scones were delicious. Wish I lived here so I could visit often as I am somewhat of a tea conoissieur. I have been to The House of Commons on several occasions and really enjoyed it. I've enjoyed the fresh scones, desserts, and sandwiches, all of which were delicious and served promptly. I've found the wait staff to be courteous and attentive. The owner is also very friendly and seems to really care about her customers. The hot teas are always good (my favorite is Scottish Breakfast). They also have some creative blends of iced teas which I find to be very refreshing on a warm summer day. I've also purchased some English tea there (PG Tips) as well as a great little teapot for home use. The House of Commons is bright and clean; it is a great place to meet your friends for some tea and conversation. If you're looking for an authentic British tea room in the Denver area with excellent tea and food, look no further. Highly recommended.

Nice, but over priced. The tea was good, however, when I asked for more hot water, they threw some tea bags in the pot of a different flavor than what I had originally ordered, and never made it back to our table so I could get that fixed. The quantity of pastries with the tea was pretty sparce. Another table had tray upon tray delivered to their table. We had to ask for more pastries, and instead of bringing a new tray, she acted like we asked for something unusual, asked what we wanted, and then brought some out on a plate and transferred them to the dirty tray we just emptied. Other than the multi-level tray, and dainty portions, everything was just average. No different than service at any neighborhood cafe. For nearly $20 a head, I expected something elegant, and was disappointed. The atmosphere is stark, and the portions are small. If you go there, order from the menu, at $6-7 per person. You'll get more food, and the same service, for half the price of the afternoon tea.

One of my favorite places to have tea because of the very casual setting, but don't let that fool you! The food is delicious and the teas are wonderful! They let us try several different kinds and of course, refill as often as you want! We had many sweets and savouries and enjoyed them all. The only crit I'd have is that the portions do seem a bit small. If you are really hungry, try the Brown Palace for their refillable sandwiches! Otherwise, it's always a delightful time!

Though everything was lovely this is the most I have ever spent on any meal. Although they had a decently priced menu they just assumed we wanted afternoon tea, which turned out to be about $23 a person, for tea and snacks. Seven people, $200, and leaving hungry is why I would never suggest this place even though everything was quite tasty ... but so is lobster for that price.

We found the holiday tea here quite lovely. The charm was great at the Holiday Chalet. The finger sandwiches were tasty but small. The scones were very yummy but small. The only mini pastry was a small cream puff. After our savories and sweets we were served a good brownie with ice cream. We did think they should have put up a bit more Christmas decorations, since it was their Christmas tea. I would visit here again.

This is our 4th and possibly smallest room (although another in Longmont was quite small too), but it was wonderful! The ambiance was lovely with an elegant feel. Our Red Hat group enjoyed an afternoon tea that was scrumptious. The service was fantastic and the selection of tea (over 400 varieties) was unbelievable. We started with a pot of Queen Mary tea, and then when our food was served we each chose a variety that we wanted to try. Once we had finished our own pot of tea we could go back and choose another variety to try. The teas were perfectly steeped and the home baked goodies and homemade sandwiches were out of this world. You will not leave hungry, that is for sure! The only reason I gave the appearance a good rather than an excellent is that this is really a little tea restaurant, not a fancy tea room. The table that had been prepared for us was beautifully laid, the service was extremely friendly and we never felt rushed. In fact, we were there about two hours.

Visiting The House of Windsor has become a family tradition. Four generations have and are enjoying lunch there. A year or so ago the tea house was sold and I was concerned as to whether the menu choices and quality would remain the same. I am happy to say that not only are the wonderful choices still available but they have added a children's menu and creative activities such as dinner and a movie. Also, I find this the best place for a good and proper cup of English tea.

I was taken to the House of Windsor for my birthday tea ... after all the excitement built, I was very disappointed. The tea room was nice to look at, but we didn't have a choice of tea -- which tasted "old." The service was poor, the server looked haggard and didn't tend to us as expected. I'm sure she's had better days. The only real positive: the gift shop had some awesome merchandise. The scone was also good, but the portions were a bit on the light side. The presentation wasn't that spectacular. I will go back next week, just to see if it was just a bad day.

The House of Windsor is a nice little spot for lunch, but don't expect great, or even good, tea. Both the previous reviews mention the fact the the restaurant is British. The owners' nationality, however, does not lend any special magic to their tea. I was highly disappointed to find that they brew a large commercial urn of tea which is kept hot all day. The tea inside may be three to four hours old. This is the only tea they sell. Their selection of teapots and cozies and tins is excellent. Their tea is not. The House of Windsor is not a tea room so much as a café that features ready-brewed hot tea.

I've visited House of Windsor 3 times. Twice I've simply ordered from the menu, and once I made reservations for the Afternoon Tea. The soups and sandwiches I ordered from the lunch menu were delicious, and the scones were warm and tender/moist. Real Devon cream was served, along with jam. The Afternoon Tea platter had a nice assortment of sandwiches with crusts, a choice of trifle or petit fours, scones, and fruit. Although the food wasn't "excellent," it certainly was very good. The service is also good. Unfortunately, though, the tea is in tea bag form. When I inquired about loose tea, I was told by the wait staff that it's "too messy." At least the tea is served in pots with cozies that keep it nice and hot. It's affordable, the food is good, and the tea is good and hot. I recommend House of Windsor.

I've visited House of Windsor for tea and lunch on at least a dozen occasions. Friendly, busy tea shop with good selection of accessories and British foods. This is one of only 2 places in town I can buy Devon clotted cream! Nicely decorated with a homey feel (hard to accomplish in a strip mall shopping center!). Not a super elegant "fancy" tea shop -- that's what makes it comfortable. The food is very good and nice selection of desserts with reasonable prices. Once again, don't expect gourmet cuisine. The service is usually good, but they can get a bit rushed. If you want a proper tea at a shop with British owners, this one's the best in town. Be sure to make reservations... they're always crowded.

Country Garden is a florist/gift shop/tea room. The entrance is filled with old clothes which we discovered were for dress-up. The wait staff was inexperienced. The menu was limited and one of our party did not receive what she ordered "because they were out." The bite-size cakes are "jazzed up" store-bought goodies. While they were tasty, they were not what we expected. Bottomless teapot was not steaming and was brewed elsewhere; it is also only one kind of tea -- English Breakfast. The atmosphere was cluttered and dark.

I took my daughter for her 6th birthday with her niece and grandmother and the owner/waitress was very snippy and rude to us and they did nothing special for the birthday girl, even though we told them this when we made the reservation. The food was okay but not traditional. the C. cream tasted more like plain old cream cheese. I would not go back. Tea at the Brown Palace is superior to this!

I have been going to the Golden Tea Time for over 6 years and is my favorite tea room in all of Colorado. (I have been to all of them several times) The food is homemade, fresh and always high quality. The presentation of the tea plate is always "Perfection". The tea room itself is so peaceful, cheerful, and a haven from the hectic world! Thank Pat and Judy for such a consistant great job.

The decor is great, but the roaches are not. Even in the bathroom and outside the house where you park on the concrete they are. They are on floor. I use to go quite often it was the special place I took all my female guests for a special time. No more I have been embrassed more than once.

This is a pretty tea shop with lovely place settings and frilly lace, but the owners don't know how to make a good hot cup of tea. The first pot of tea served to me was cold, like it had been made from hot tap water and then allowed to brew. When I asked if the water had been boiled, the co-owner acted a bit taken aback. I asked her to take it back and boil the water/make a fresh pot, but the second one was little better. I was disappointed. So, for atmosphere ... go, but don't expect a drinkable cup of tea.

Golden Tea Time is fabulous! The food is excellent, freshly prepared, attractively served. The service is always perfect. You will never want for a pot of HOT tea --or whatever -- at your fingertips. The owners, Jackie and Pat, are a delight to deal with. They go out of their way to make your tea time or lunch a pleasure. They greet most of their customers by name, which made me want to return immediately. The shop itself is attractively decorated and changing all the time, encouraging one to return to see what's new. Located on the main street of downtown Golden, it is a great place to stop in and have lunch or scones and tea. Goodies are baked daily. Be sure to call for reservations because they are busy! Very reasonable prices.

We went for lunch but added a cream tea to each of our meals. So, we had the best of both worlds. The food was excellent and the decor is adorable. We definitely plan to return again to try the afternoon tea.

My husband and I visit the Huckleberry regularly for dinner and it is by far our favorite spot. They have a great selection on their menu and we are always seated immediately. We want people to visit more because it is so wonderful, but at the same time, we'd like it to keep the same ambiance. I took my grandmother to the Huck for tea and she said "I feel like a queen!" I don't think it can get much better than that!  She is a proud member of the Red Hat Society and was in heaven at the Huckleberry. They accomodated our need for tea before 1pm. The teas and food were wonderful! I wouldn't change a thing! I have taken other friends to the Huckleberry who have later traveled back to Louisville to visit the restaurant again.

The Huckleberry was easily the best restuarant that I ate at in Colorado. I was there for a business trip and the food was excellent, though they were out of their homemade pumpkin pie when I got there. The service was great and the overall appearence was awesome. This was a great find and I would definately go back again and again!!! ~Thanks Huck!

They did not have afternoon tea!! It's a restaurant. They said you have to call 24 hours in advance for afternoon tea. We did not know this. A Tea House, should have tea food available at all times. This place is just a restaurant with tea. They also have more coffee drinks on their menu than tea. We had to ask for a tea menu. They ask when they seat you, if you would  like coffee or soda. What type of a tea room is that.

The tea room opens at 11:00 a.m. but closes in the afternoon for reservation only "high [sic] teas". This was what we went to. We were served scones (with lemon curd, Devonshire cream & homemade preserves), tea sandwiches (ham salad, egg salad, chicken salad, cucumber, pimento & cheese), julienne vegetables, fruit and chocolates for $15. We had one person in our group that is not a tea drinker that had lemonade and they also offer old fashioned Phosphates. It is located inside of Miramont Castle Museum built in the late 1800s and has a beautiful mountain view.

On a busy weekend day, I attended an adult friend's birthday party with scones (plus jam and cream) and Meyer lemon cake with lavender cream. We each ordered our own tea and it was delivered hot with the appropriate instructions for brewing time. I ordered a South African tea I had wanted to taste and it came out perfectly, esp after I got the milk that was a little delayed. I've enjoyed Wisdom Tea before and had a similarly wonderful experience. The occ. live music adds a nice touch. Clean white walls with interesting art makes this anything but a fast food stop.

Nice little tearoom with lots of different teas and accessories, especially teap pots & cups, for sale. The service was quick, good sens of humor, yea was lovely, scones good but not the world's freshest. Loved the piano music. Decor is too modern for my taste, but there is a "cosy corner" in the back. I'd go back when in the area.

My daughter and I have been visiting many tea rooms in the Denver metro area and this was the first in which we were truly disappointed. The service was abominable. We were served a "one serving" pot of tea, with one teabag, for both of us. It was not refilled even after we asked. The server did not offer a menu or ask for our order for at least twenty minutes. The ambiance was cold, steely, uncomfortable and unfriendly. We truly felt like intruders. Even though it was the lunch hour, there was nobody in the shop. The clerk was rude and ignored us completely. We also had to share a spoon. It definitely wasn't worth the hour long drive.

What a disappointment!!  We had to share a teaspoon amongst the four of us although we repeatedly asked for others; we were eventually brought one more. The same was the case for the butter knife. No additional bread plates were brought with the scones we ordered to share, and when we asked for plates, twice, they were eventually brought, reluctantly, with a heavy sigh. The food was bland at best and the service was at best negligent and bordered on rude. Our plates were never cleared. When we tried to order dessert we were told that was too much food. I will not visit this tea room again. A trip to McDonalds would have been more courteous.

This is an excellent place to get tea. Both the owner and our server were from England and were very gracious. It's in a modern setting in a strip mall, and everything is very sleek and modern, which is what they were going for, rather than the Old World type of setting.
The owner is extremely knowledgeable about tea and offers many varieties. They have over 110 varieties available including herbals and tisanes.
They also serve lunch, which is also very good. I would recommend as an excellent place to visit and definitely a place to get tea. Thank you.
