I went with two friends and found the shop to be not some place we would never go to again. The food was frozen and thawed before serving, which we could have bought, the soup came out of a can which we could have also bought.
Would you go back? Sorry, no.

I love this tea room! It's quaint and very personal; it's a real treat to visit. I feel like family when I go there and it's a lovely place to shop for my favorite treats. There is a great variety of sweets and traditional English fare to purchase. Sometimes I stop in just to do that! This is a tea room you will want to add to your "must visit" list. I have never been disappointed and I'm looking forward to my next visit!
Would you go back? Yes, can't wait!

Boulder Dushanbe Teahouse, Boulder, CO

Visited: November, 2007.  Meal: Afternoon tea. Type of tea: Loose leaf. Served: In a teapot.
Tea: Good.  Food: Fair.  Service: Fair.  Appearance: Excellent.
Comments:
What happened to this place? Are there new owners who don't know how to run a restaurant? It is still breathtakingly beautiful to look at but no longer enjoyable to go for tea or food. On this visit our tea was over-brewed and a little bitter. They did replace it when asked, and the second time it was under-brewed and lacking that good tea flavor. (I guess they over-compensated.) Even some of the food was under-cooked. And the service: Once we asked for the tea to be replaced - correctly, I think, since this is a tea house - they pretty much snubbed us! We could barely get their attention to order dessert, and they never removed the used dishes from our table. None of the staff would look us in the eye, so maybe they know there's a problem. I used to come here all the time but this is the third time we've been disappointed here so I'm sorry to say we won't be back. It really breaks my heart to lose this tea house. I'll be watching the reviews here to see if the owners can turn the place around.
Would you go back? Sorry, no.

I took my 93 year old aunt to the Dushanbe tea house. We were looking forwared to having a pleasnt day. Everything was very unpleasent We had a 2:30 reservation We were not seated until 3:30 Due to the hostesses mistake. even though most tables were open. I complained and complained but it  fell on deaf ears. The Hostess was extremely rude and uncaring. We even watched her get into a verbal argument with another customer as well. We missed our lunch (they only serve until 3) All they served us was nasty tasting very expensive appitizers because they said they were out of everything. It was a very disappointing misrable expierence. This is a very beautiful and unique place but they need to get over themselves and practice better customer service.

I went here for afternoon tea. The teahouse was very crowded and loud
, and the wait staff seemed to want to turn their tables quickly. I go to tea to relax and unwind and catch up with friends. I didn't feel I could do any of those things here.

If you are a tea lover and in the Boulder area, this teahouse is a must-see. It's worth a visit just to see the building with its beautifully carved and painted panels. They have a large selection of excellent loose leaf tea. I had a pot of Formosa Jade oolong which was wonderfully floral and sweet. I also purchased some of their Jade Spring which is the house specialty green tea. At $3.75/oz, this was a real bargain. I've had teas priced a lot higher that weren't as good. Even the tea skeptic in our group liked both of these teas. The food menu has offerings from all over the world, and all three of us were very pleased with our choices.

This very special teahouse is as unique and beautiful as the city it's in. The teahouse's airy interior, complemented by the gently splash of the courtyard fountain, is a soothing place to wile away an hour or two. In the summer, the small tables outside are a wonderful place to enjoy the gorgeous Colorado sunshine. While the service by the mostly college student staff can be spotty, the Dushanbe Teahouse is lovely for a spot of tea at whatever time of day. Their gingerbread, served with the most gorgeous tea sauce, is to die for!!!

The Boulder Dushanbe Teahouse was a gift to the City of Boulder from her sister-city Dushanbe. The tea house has hand carved wooden posts and hand painted ceilings and walls. There is a lovely fountain in the center of the tea house. You can dine inside or outside by the Boulder Creek. This is a great place to bring out-of-town guests as it is a "one-of-a-kind" tea house. The food is excellent and the prices are reasonable.

Celestial Seasons is a must stop for any tourist to Boulder. They offer free tours of the tea manufacturing plant. There is a great gift shop that grows bigger every year. The gift shop sells all the Celestial teas and accessories. There is an employee cafeteria that is also open to the public. The food is good and the prices are reasonable.

This is the perfect place to stop in when shopping at the Boulder Farmer's Market. What a surprise to find these great teas just half a block away. All kinds of terrific single estate oolongs, blacks, and lots of green teas and herbals on their list as well. I had the best Darjeeling I've ever tasted there, and took home a tin of their Boulder Breakfast Blend that my husband had latte-style (a special blend for coffee-drinkers, and he found it so tasty that now he wants to try to switch to tea on weekends). A must-see for tea lovers shopping in Boulder.

The Trident is a unique venue, espically when you realize that during the warmer months they show movies and have poetry readings on the portch out back. The employees are pleasant and the tea is nice, nothing overly above average, but just right. I do like that it's just a little off the beaten path from the usual pearl street mall crowd, it's more often students and professors from the university. I definately reccomend this if you want to go out with a friend or two to chat, or even to talk up a little conversation with the locals.

This is a very casual place. The front is a shop selling British foods.  They have a very good selection of English cheeses. In the back of the shop are a few tables where tea is served. The tea was PG Tips. It was steeped to perfection before being brought to the table. The leaves or bags (I don't know which it was) were not left in the pot to get bitter. It was a huge pot and piping hot. The sandwiches and biscuits were standard stuff, but tasty. The shop sells a variety of English teas in addition to PG Tips. These included Taylor's of Harrogate, Typhoo, and Yorkshire Gold.

This place is just like tea rooms I've visited in Windsor and Coventry! Complete with plastic tablecloths and pictures on the walls of the Royal Family! The food is typically English -- but better. The tea is the best aspect of this place. It is hot, served appropriately, with cream and sugar, and the waitress comes by frequently to check the pot and replenish it if needed. A comfortable place -- just like relaxing in a friend's kitchen!

I grew up in England and love a good cup of tea when I'm out and about. This is the best cup of tea in Colorado Springs! While there are other places that have more atmosphere, this is where to go for a real, delightful, hot cup of tea! The scones are not good, though. They taste microwaved and a bit stale, even with the cream and jam. The other food is great, if you like English food. Its one of my favorite places in Colorado Springs! I have visited there many times and have never been disappointed.

They only serve afternoon tea from 2.30 to 4.30pm on Tuesday through Saturday, and it costs $7.25. I arrived at 1.50, and ordered a pot of tea and scones, and it was $6.25 ... so go after 2:30! The owner is British, and the selection of British items for purchase is wonderful!

Glen Eyrie Tea Room, Colorado Springs, CO

Visited: May, 2008.  Meal: Afternoon tea. Type of tea: Teabags. Served: In a teapot.
Tea: Poor.  Food: Fair.  Service: Fair.  Appearance: Excellent.
Comments:
The ambience was provided by the group of women I was with, and the gorgeous castle at Glen Eyrie. The tea was a major disappointment, one pot black tea one pot decaf herbal for a table of 8 women! The waitress refilled water glasses repeatedly but never the tea which was not very hot, I dont think they even boil the water. The food was ok but not traditional, scones were hard like the starbucks type. Scones served first, then the 'savory' food which was peculiar-pastry type things with fillings, mini quiche, deviled egg, NO SANDWICHES! That is very odd. THe spinach filled pastry was really gummy. There was small chocolate candy in paper like you would get at a restaurant. THe waitress simply disappeared never to be seen again. No music which would have been nice. Just a food mill attitude. I've been enjoying tea for years and they just don't get it.
Would you go back? Maybe.

They claim to serve a "Victorian Tea" yet I do not recall quesadillas being served in any type of British lunches! I asked the waitress why and she could not provide an explanation. It was very disappointing, the only thing British about our lunch was the pot of tea and nothing else. The food was awful, as an ex-pat living in the USA I really was hoping to find a decent place to get high [sic] tea.

We are the crazy bunch who had Christmas tea at Abby's Tea Room before the Hidalgos retired. Speaking for my group, we've patronized every tea room that exists from Loveland to Boulder to Golden to Broomfield and Denver. Abby's Tea Room is by far as "proper" and friendly as they come. The presentation, the conversation, the ambiance, the quality, the lovely eclectic tea sets, what more can I say? The Hidalgos had them all covered. We hope the new MH owners will continue the professionalism and passion of the Hidalgos. We were teary-eyed when they told us they were retiring. Good Luck to you and we hope your legacy lives on! This is a fabulous tea room. Tea is graciously served in a beautiful setting -- an old Victorian home with a wraparound front porch that has been enclosed to make a wonderful sun room. The selection of teas was good, the presentation was excellent, the food was abundant and delicious, and there was plenty left to take home. I have been to most of the tea rooms in the Denver area, and this one definitely moves to the top of my list. I plan to introduce this wonderful place to all of my friends and acquaintances. Thank you.

My friends and I love to go to tea to celebrate our birthdays. This was our first experience and we loved it! I was so impressed with the hot wash cloths, fresh flowers on the table, with fruit compote waiting for us. Each of us got to pick out our own tea. Sugar cubes! It was first-class all the way. Our hostess was very attentive and informative about the Merritt House. We even toured the Bed and Breakfast. I've lived here my entire life and never knew it even existed. I've since then recommended it to everyone I know. We are anxious to return.

The tea setting is very pleasant and inviting. The hostess did a great job making you feel at home and comfortable. You get the 'family' treatment each time you come in. The food is abundant and tastes great for the price. There are many choices of teas available and the accompanying finger sandwiches makes for a full meal. It is something you would expect from a high-priced restaurant with all the fanfare but in a much more relaxed/soothing environment and with prices that are more down to earth. Every teapot/china setting has its own distinct 'personality' allowing each person to take part in the history of each tea. I say all this because I initially expected that "teas" would be for my wife and her friends. Instead, I was pleasantly surprised that I enjoyed it as much as my wife -- a nice change of pace from my high-stress office job. I believe anyone would enjoy this "tea."

While visiting Denver, I had the opportunity to have tea at the Brown Palace Hotel. My husband was with me and we both had the Royal High [sic] Tea. We were served delicious scones, plenty of tasty tea sandwiches, and a delightful array of sweets. A harpist played in the background. It was a beautiful setting for afternoon tea. I would recommend reservations. It was pretty busy the day we were there. The servers were very attentive. The only complaint is that they left the tea leaves in the pot but a server did come by to add hot water occasionally. I would recommend the Brown Palace to anyone looking for a delightful tea experience. we don't live nearby.

I took my mother to the Brown Palace while she was visiting us just to have a look around. They were able to seat us for tea without a reservation. Everything was delightful. It was well worth the cost ($20-25).  I ordered the Palace Tea and she ordered the Chocolate Tea -- each little dessert had some chocolate in it. The sandwiches were delicious and they offered a second plate of them to us, which we took! My favorite were the Curry Egg Salad sandwiches. They served two types of scones to each of us. I am quite picky about my scones. The texture was different, but they were wonderful. All the little desserts were wonderful. Next time, I'll order the Chocolate Tea myself!
Our actual tea to drink was served in individual pots. I had their House Brand. They do use loose leaf teas, but left the leaves in the pot. They poured additional hot water into our pots, but I would have preferred to have the tea brewed and decanted to avoid bitterness. Otherwise, I wouldn't change a thing!
The piano player and harpist were both excellent and the service was impeccable.  I can't wait to go back!

My sister-in-law and I regularly have high [sic] tea at the Brown Palace. It is such a pleasure! The service is beyond excellent. The staff recognize us, and have occasionally comped our tea, because we are such regulars. Each of the servers seems genuinely interested in every guest. There is a pianist, providing beautiful accompaniment. The food is exquisite!!!! Whenever we have a special occasion, or a particularly special out-of town guest, we take them to the Brown Palace. And whenever we can sneak away from the office, to the Brown we go! If you are EVER in Colorado, you MUST go to the Brown for tea! They also serve a lovely salmon lunch with tea. Delicious!!!!

This wonderful little tea shop is open Monday through Saturday from 11am to 5.30pm, with a capacity of 16 (so it is advisable to make reservations). They sell British food products, various brands of British tea, English teapots and accessories, in fact just about anything you can think of! Also in stock are crafts from England and Wales, which tend to sell fast but are constantly being replaced. The owners, Bud and Joyce Mahn along with their top notch English staff, will make your visit a pleasant and relaxing experience

Cano's serves loose tea (yes, really), freshly brewed by the pot. The menu is 3 or 4 items and seating is very limited. Lunch is affordably priced and includes a pot of tea, lunch, and scones with Devon cream and jam. The food is fresh, hot, and delicious. The owner is Welsh (Boor da') and always serves the tea with the comment "Let it brew." A Victorian Tea happens every December and they seem willing to accommodate (with advance notice) some special parties, i.e. over four, or wanting lunch late. No tea is served on Sundays except in December. A very good selection of pots and tea sets; British and Welsh paraphernalia and food items, cheese/sausage etc. Intimate and relaxing.

This is my favorite of all the tea shops and coffee shops I've been to. It just feels the most comfortable and has the best food. On top of that, the Broadway location is the most convenient. I like to go with a friend and have a couple cups of Darjeeling green over a game of chess. It's like taking a vacation!

Curiosity brought me into this little nugget of a tea shop when cruising for antiques on South Broadway. I was alone and immediately fell into conversation with the friendly owner over a cup of the most delicious tea and grilled sandwich I have ever tasted. I got an education about tea (and life) from this delightful person. I’ve gone back again and again with friends – can’t seem to stay away. Drink, food, soothing environment, mesmerizing “chandelier” – everything was a source of wonder here, alone or with friends.

I found this tea room by chance, and couldn't be happier. Located in a historic landmark building in Denver, the setting is beautiful and the owners will happily give a tour with history and facts following tea. I was very impressed. The only improvement that I would have made would be to have a  teapot of my own from which to refresh my cup instead of relying on the waitress to refill my cup. The food was delightful and the lemon curd for the scones was sublime! Enjoy!

I have been to The House of Commons on several occasions and really enjoyed it. I've enjoyed the fresh scones, desserts, and sandwiches, all of which were delicious and served promptly. I've found the wait staff to be courteous and attentive. The owner is also very friendly and seems to really care about her customers. The hot teas are always good (my favorite is Scottish Breakfast). They also have some creative blends of iced teas which I find to be very refreshing on a warm summer day. I've also purchased some English tea there (PG Tips) as well as a great little teapot for home use. The House of Commons is bright and clean; it is a great place to meet your friends for some tea and conversation. If you're looking for an authentic British tea room in the Denver area with excellent tea and food, look no further. Highly recommended.

Nice, but over priced. The tea was good, however, when I asked for more hot water, they threw some tea bags in the pot of a different flavor than what I had originally ordered, and never made it back to our table so I could get that fixed. The quantity of pastries with the tea was pretty sparce. Another table had tray upon tray delivered to their table. We had to ask for more pastries, and instead of bringing a new tray, she acted like we asked for something unusual, asked what we wanted, and then brought some out on a plate and transferred them to the dirty tray we just emptied. Other than the multi-level tray, and dainty portions, everything was just average. No different than service at any neighborhood cafe. For nearly $20 a head, I expected something elegant, and was disappointed. The atmosphere is stark, and the portions are small. If you go there, order from the menu, at $6-7 per person. You'll get more food, and the same service, for half the price of the afternoon tea.

One of my favorite places to have tea because of the very casual setting, but don't let that fool you! The food is delicious and the teas are wonderful! They let us try several different kinds and of course, refill as often as you want! We had many sweets and savouries and enjoyed them all. The only crit I'd have is that the portions do seem a bit small. If you are really hungry, try the Brown Palace for their refillable sandwiches! Otherwise, it's always a delightful time!

I had a delightful "Balmoral" sandwich (salmon, cream cheese and cucumber on a roll), tea and a scone. The scones were the tastiest and freshest I've had in a long time. The staff were friendly, helpful and attended to our needs in a timely, yet non-intrusive manner. We left feeling relaxed, refreshed and comforted by the soothing atmosphere on a chilly, rainy day.

Though everything was lovely this is the most I have ever spent on any meal. Although they had a decently priced menu they just assumed we wanted afternoon tea, which turned out to be about $23 a person, for tea and snacks. Seven people, $200, and leaving hungry is why I would never suggest this place even though everything was quite tasty ... but so is lobster for that price.

Myself, Mother and Sister began visiting tea rooms last year; mostly in northern Colorado. This is our 4th and possibly smallest room (although another in Longmont was quite small too), but it was wonderful! The ambiance was lovely with an elegant feel. The tea meal was beautifully presented and hearty. We were served both hot and iced tea, each delicious. If you are ANYWHERE (within 60 miles) in the area, and enjoy tea I would recommend it!

Tea with Tina was superb! My mother and I have been visiting obscure tea houses, and was this one ever a FIND! In an adorable 1926 house in Englewood -tucked away, who knew this great place was here?! We had the Queen's Tea at 11am. The artichoke & tomato quiche was perfect!! They accept reservations on Sundays!! Tina served us herself, and wore a fun feathered hat to boot! We will go back soon, and I am telling all my friends! Love it!

*WOW* the service was WONDERFUL and the food was GREAT! I took my stepmom and dad to try it out because we were looking for a tea room for a mother's day party and we found the place! This place was comfortable and we never felt rushed. Our server was Tina's sister Becky and their mom cooks all the food. What a perfect family place.

I was taken to the House of Windsor for my birthday tea ... after all the excitement built, I was very disappointed. The tea room was nice to look at, but we didn't have a choice of tea -- which tasted "old." The service was poor, the server looked haggard and didn't tend to us as expected. I'm sure she's had better days. The only real positive: the gift shop had some awesome merchandise. The scone was also good, but the portions were a bit on the light side. The presentation wasn't that spectacular. I will go back next week, just to see if it was just a bad day.

The House of Windsor is a nice little spot for lunch, but don't expect great, or even good, tea. Both the previous reviews mention the fact the the restaurant is British. The owners' nationality, however, does not lend any special magic to their tea. I was highly disappointed to find that they brew a large commercial urn of tea which is kept hot all day. The tea inside may be three to four hours old. This is the only tea they sell. Their selection of teapots and cozies and tins is excellent. Their tea is not. The House of Windsor is not a tea room so much as a café that features ready-brewed hot tea.

I've visited House of Windsor 3 times. Twice I've simply ordered from the menu, and once I made reservations for the Afternoon Tea. The soups and sandwiches I ordered from the lunch menu were delicious, and the scones were warm and tender/moist. Real Devon cream was served, along with jam. The Afternoon Tea platter had a nice assortment of sandwiches with crusts, a choice of trifle or petit fours, scones, and fruit. Although the food wasn't "excellent," it certainly was very good. The service is also good. Unfortunately, though, the tea is in tea bag form. When I inquired about loose tea, I was told by the wait staff that it's "too messy." At least the tea is served in pots with cozies that keep it nice and hot. It's affordable, the food is good, and the tea is good and hot. I recommend House of Windsor.

I've visited House of Windsor for tea and lunch on at least a dozen occasions. Friendly, busy tea shop with good selection of accessories and British foods. This is one of only 2 places in town I can buy Devon clotted cream! Nicely decorated with a homey feel (hard to accomplish in a strip mall shopping center!). Not a super elegant "fancy" tea shop -- that's what makes it comfortable. The food is very good and nice selection of desserts with reasonable prices. Once again, don't expect gourmet cuisine. The service is usually good, but they can get a bit rushed. If you want a proper tea at a shop with British owners, this one's the best in town. Be sure to make reservations... they're always crowded.

The food was wonderful... full afternoon tea was only $9.95, I think. The British owner was quite helpful, and there was a tantalizing selection of goodies to purchase... tea cozies, teapots, teacups, British foods and teas, etc. Five stars!

Country Garden is a florist/gift shop/tea room. The entrance is filled with old clothes which we discovered were for dress-up. The wait staff was inexperienced. The menu was limited and one of our party did not receive what she ordered "because they were out." The bite-size cakes are "jazzed up" store-bought goodies. While they were tasty, they were not what we expected. Bottomless teapot was not steaming and was brewed
