Tea: Excellent.  Food: Excellent.  Service: Excellent.  Appearance: Excellent.

My new bride and I chose Abella Garden Inn as a wonderful place to host a tea party for our families the day after our wedding. We had many places to enjoy our tea on the grounds including the dining room, patio, and multiple tables throughout the garden and the gazebo. Because we had a group of twenty, we chose the beautiful tea room. The food was amazing, particularly the scones. There were plenty of teas to select from, and the atmosphere was perfect for our guests. The buffet style worked very well for the food. Above all, though, this is not your average tea party. Gina interacts with the guests in delightful ways, and it truly made the tea party an experience we'll never forget. I couldn't recommend it enough.

I recently hosted a 90th birthday tea party for my mom and her best friends. This shop/tearoom was the perfect setting for this memorable occasion. Everything served in the 4 course tea was absolutely delicious, especially the delectable scones. The servers were very attentive and happy. This tea room is part of an adorable children's boutique and also houses a unique doll museum. Having visited tearooms around the country, I would definitely rate this as one of the best ever!

I have visited this tea house on many occasions. I have taken my granddaughters and even with my red hat society group. The shop is just to die for. Everything a princess needs, young and old. The young ladies who work there were a delight and gave amazing service. The last outing we had at Teddy Bears and Tea Cups was for they're Christmas Tea. All  three courses was filled with holiday favorites. I plan to go to they're Valentine's Tea this month. This tea house is a must try whether you live close or if you come during one of your family vacations. Five star rating in my opinion.

The waitress didn't want to give us a menu. Just wanted us to order the "Traditional Tea". Twenty dollars a person and we had six in or party of Red Hatters. I had to ask her for a menu. I wanted to see what they offered. Everyone was unhappy with the waitress behavior.

Once here you never want to leave. The staff treats you as if you were the only guest they have. The food and tea selections are excellent. I have never had a bad meal or tea. They also do to-go orders. Whether a traditional high [sic] tea or a cuppa tea and cuppa soup to go -- you are never disappointed. They do have seasonal teas and food specialties around the holidays and or seasons ... their wonderful cold strawberry soup (served in half a cantaloupe) can't be beat. I hold my breath waiting for the Christmas Holiday teas -- especially the Pear and Pomegranate. You can't go wrong here.

Each time I visit the Camellia Tea Room I want to share it with more and more of my friends! My first visit was for Mother's Day with my daughter. Since then I have been with friends for a girlfriends' day, and recently fifteen of us gathered to celebrate the end of summer. We are celebrating the birthday of another friend shortly. Every visit has been wonderful; we are treated like we are royalty and the food is absolutely delicious. I can't say enough good about this tea room ... it is indeed a very special place.

I first visited this charming establishment five years ago, when the principal of the small school at which I work treated us teachers to a tea at the Camellia Tea Room. We were delighted and I have returned several times since. I especially appreciate the gracious, calm atmosphere so conducive to a relaxing chat with a close friend. Everything is excellent. Among the traditional elements of an English tea, they also offer their version of a child's tea at a modest price, which includes fancy peanut butter and jelly sandwiches and petit fours. My daughter chose to have her friends celebrate her birthday there and it was magnificent.

It is a store front, not a house. But that does not take away from the old fashioned charm once you are inside. The Matte Latte (chocolate-y) and Russian Caravan teas are very good. The menu is large; you may order sweet tea, savory tea, a big tea with everything or individual sandwiches, salads and soups. The full tea is about $14.00. The soups are meat-based. The spinach salad with balsamic vinegar is superb. Also a nice dessert list is available. There are tea accessories for sale, along with Tea magazine. It's usually busy, so it's best to reserve. Street parking is pretty good. There are many antique shops close by.

In July, 2000 I met a friend of mine at The Beverly Hills Hotel for afternoon tea. This was our first experience at this hotel. The tea was served in the Sunset Lounge which is right off the lobby entrance. The seats were almost too comfortable so be prepared to stay a while ... you won't want to get up! The tea itself was quite delicious and was presented beautifully. Take a walk through the hotel and enjoy the scenery afterwards.

The tea room is cozy and offers some sidewalk dining as well. I really enjoyed the high [sic] tea which is a five-course presentation including two types of paté with crackers, spinach and water chestnut dip with crudité, a variety of finger sandwiches (smoked salmon, tuna, vegetable), scone, and petit four. The service is consistently professional yet friendly. The atmosphere is British, including retail items and UK newspapers.

Made a Valentine's Day visit to this tea room. Was surprised that the tea room (aka The Living Room) is adjacent to the hotel lobby. This makes for some
extra noise and distraction. It took a long time for the server to take our order and then the food also took a while to arrive. We poured our own tea twice and had to ask twice for more sweetner. Food was good and the price was reasonable for high [sic] tea.

I have had many a birthday tea at the Peninsula. The best aspect of this tea experience is the ambiance. The tea room is in a small lounge with settees and chairs clustered around low tables. There is a fireplace. It is like taking tea in a drawing room. The food and tea are fine, but the Four Seasons has better food. Thus the debate among my friends: atmosphere of the Peninsula or better food/service of the Four Seasons? Either way you won't be disappointed!

When you enter this cozy elegant tea room which is located just off the lobby of the hotel you hear the soothing and beautiful music of a live harpist which creates a somewhat magical ambiance. The presentation is exquisite. I'm proud to say that my wife, a renowned porcelain artist and author of the forthcoming HarperCollins book The Power of a Teacup designed and hand painted all of the teacups, saucers, creamers and sugars for the tea room experience. All of the staff have a very comprehensive knowledge of the various teas of which they offer a broad and exotic selection. The food is meticulously prepared to delight the eye as well as the palate. The soft and fluffy sofas and comfortable yet elegant chairs along with the the tasteful accessories all come together for simply a memorable tea affair. You will never want to leave. It's truly worth the effort to get there! For more information on Lissi's porcelain tea collections you can visit her site
p.s. Keep up the great work on your site. I happen to be a vegetarian and enjoy your recipe concepts. It's my first visit to your site, it's fantastico!

When people ask me where is the best place in southern California to have tea, this is the place I refer them! The food is not only delicious but elegantly presented. Some of the desserts were even decorated with edible gold leaf. The service is remarkably attentive yet sensitive enough not to be intrusive or hovering. One member of the staff (not even our server) overheard us saying we needed to go feed our parking meters but we hated to get up from our tea table! He offered to feed them for us if we would just tell us where they were parked, described the vehicles and supply the quarters! We took him up on the offer and he carried out the task so cheerfully and graciously, he made us feel it was his privilege to serve us! We felt wonderfully spoiled and pampered. The tea was delicious and always kept replenished. Highly recommended.

I have been enjoying afternoon tea at various spots for many years and I must say that The Peninsula Beverly Hills gets my vote for the most elegant, comfortable, delicious, relaxing afternoon tea ever. The tea is served in "The Living Room" and it is exactly how one would picture a very charming and cozy living room complete with fireplace! I sat at the back of the room and had the most incredible view of the sculpture called "Flight to Infinity." As you walk into the living room look to the back and you'll see this incredible piece of work just outside. The service AND servers are wonderful and give you the exact amount of attention necessary. This is a very well run hotel in every way. Thank you for such a lovely experience!

The Regent Beverly Wilshire Hotel, Beverly Hills, CA

Visited: April, 2001
Tea: Good.  Food: Excellent.  Service: Excellent.  Appearance: Excellent.
Comments:
Can you picture yourself sitting in the large windows of this famous hotel gazing out toward Rodeo Drive? This elegant yet comfortable afternoon tea location welcomes visitors of all ages. The tableware is cheerfully elegant, the tea is served in silverplate individual teapots, poured through silverplate strainers resting atop your cup. Fully half of the tables included children (including a schoolboy seated alone doing his homework!) The Palm Court at the Plaza Hotel (NYC) is more formal, and the tea is more carefully prepared. The Ritz-Carleton San Francisco offers tea in a more elegant space, and the tea is uniformly excellent. In comparison, the Beverly Wilshire Hotel offers a comfortable yet elegant tea that is more notable for where one sits than what one drinks. Food was served on a three-tiered stand, using the same pattern as the place settings. The food included small sandwiches (two of three were vegetarian) of the highest quality and appearance. The scones were accompanied by clotted cream, strawberry preserves and lemon curd. The deserts were rich, tasteful, and beautifully presented. The Beverly Wilshire serves Taylor's of Harrogate in a range of black and green blends. This is a lovely and memorable place to pass several hours. Just do not expect excellent tea, and you will emerge happy, full and perhaps even star-struck.

Quite cozy place but lack of air-circulation. Very warm inside, especially when it gets crowded. For this kind of price, i will rather go to Costco for the pastries. Very unfriendly service for a tea room environment. Poor utensil, it's all mix and matched instead of coming in a set. Cheap tea set! Not recommend for a relaxing tea time.

This tea house was so impressive. I have attended a couple in Orange County and have never been treated so well. As a new ladies tea group, our attendence size changed even up to the day of reservations. Sweet Divas graciously accomadated us with no reprocussion. They were flexible with our menu even though preset. Both hostess and server were very personable to the point of family like. The ambience was european lady and very comfortable. My friend and I just visited this tea room for our biannual birthday tea -- this was our first time visiting since the new ownership and we had an excellent experience. The service was terrific, our waiter offered twice to warm up our tea if needed, and all our food was brought promptly. We have been to tea at MANY locations in Southern California, but the food here was some of the best we've ever had. The tea sandwiches were delicious- traditional fillings (egg salad, cucumber) but with a unique taste. The scones were delicious and we always appreciate a tea room that includes a chocolate dessert! We will definitely be back and I have already recommended Sweet Divas to several other friends.

I just read the previous review by Laura W. and I have to say I completely disagree with her complaints. I visit this tea room at least twice a month and I love everything about it. The service is superb! The owners are a wonderful couple who work their hearts out to make everything as wonderful as it is. The scones are to die for!!! I have even bought them by the dozens they are so good. The place is impeccably clean and decorated beautifully. All of the attention to detail is perfection. The food is the best I have ever had at a tea room and I have been to many. The chef/owner obviously loves what she does everyday. I have only been to brunch once but can't wait to go back. Oh, and they do offer other beverages -- they even brewed coffee just for me once and the last time I was in my girlfriend had raspberry lemonade. I hope that you will all try this little place. I know you will love everything!

I visited this tearoom for the first time about a month after the ownership had changed hands. It is located in a very cute "cottage" and has the feel of being in someone's living room. While it is decorated very cheerfully, the place is quite dirty and dusty. Our party was seated in the back, and they had a nice selection of teas made from loose leaf. Each person could choose their own pot of tea. Tea is served in pretty teapots and teacups. Unfortunately, they have nothing to offer non-tea drinkers: no soft drinks, hot chocolate, just tea. After a time a basket of fresh baked mini scones was brought to our table, along with a teaspoon of homemade marionberry jam and some type of cream that tasted like cream cheese frosting. Unfortunately, one tablespoon was not enough for four people and a basket of scones, and it took them over ten minutes to bring out any more, despite repeated requests. When the food was served, it was delicious. They served a slice of quiche along with some tea sandwiches, some mini pastries, and then chocolate dipped strawberries. The food was quite delicious. The service, however, was terrible. Not once in the two hours we were there did they ever try to clear the table, despite the fact that they had seated us at a table much too small for all the plates etc. that they bring. Even after we bussed the table ourselves, they still didn't take notice. Hopefully these flaws have to do with the fact that the store is under new ownership, because the food was exceptional.

My daughters and I enjoyed afternoon tea here and declared "one of our favorites". A cozy and quiet atmosphere with soft music in the background. Had the Queens Tea. Started with Cream of Mushroom soup, the best we have ever had! The sausage and ham rolls were delicious as well as the quiche. We judge a teashop by it's scones, this shop passed with flying colors. The scones were soft, slightly warm and flaky. The sandwiches were chicken salad and egg salad. Could use more filling as well as skip the butter spread. The service was perfect, helpful but never hovering. I highly recommend an afternoon tea here.

We had cranberry-cherry-hibiscus tea. It was light and refreshing even though hot. Delicious, a nice change. I recommend the quiche, garlic-chive scones and the delicate buttercream pansy-topped miniature cupcakes. It was nice to have a bell to summon the server if we needed anything. They were very attentive to our needs and it was nice to slow down and enjoy the pace of an afternoon 'tea'.

This is the 6th time I've been here in the past 3 months. I can't get enough of it!!! When I walk through the doors I leave all of my worldly cares outside and enter a realm where I feel pampered and treated like royalty. The food is always excellent and the house tea is so good I have a very difficult time switching to one of the other delicious teas. I have taken several girlfriends here and they were all very impressed. I highly recommend giving it a try. The owners and staff make you feel like part of the family.

We had afternoon tea in this charming cottage tea parlour. It was not crowded at all being a summer afternoon. No reservations were made and we were promply seated. This is probably the only tea parlour in town and worth the visit in this quaint little seaside town. The scones were warm and good as were the tea sandwiches. Tea was very good and they have a large selection. The service was o.k. We were left alone for the most part. What a difference it would have made if the server would have made us feel a little more welcome but I think tea is a girl thing. Nonetheless, I will visit again next time I am in Cambria.

The food was okay. We decided to walk there (probably a bad idea) and got there a bit late for our reservation. It didn't seem crowded, but the owner made a comment about us being late. We did get seated and the food was fine, but that was the major memory I have about going. I may go back as it is the only real tea room in Cambria, but it wasn't that memorable otherwise.

I was vacationing in Cambria and decided to treat myself, my mom, and my young son to tea. I found The Tea Cozy in the local flyer and thought I would give it a try and am very glad I did. They have a lovely garden in the back were we leisurely had tea, sandwiches, and pastries. They even had a child's tea for my son. The food and tea were excellent, with lots of choices, and the service was the best. Of all the wonderful things to do in Cambria, going out lunch at the Tea Cozy still stands out as the best.

We discovered this tea shop on a recent trip to Cambria, a quaint town on California's central coast. The Tea Cozy is located in a darling old rustic house surrounded by cottage-type flower beds spilling over with roses and greenery. If you can tear yourself away from the enchanting outside, you will find even greater delights within. Stepping inside, you're greeted by wonderful aromas for your nose and a charming interior for your eyes ... cozy wood paneling on the walls and lace curtains at the windows. The rooms are set up with antique tables and chairs. While you're waiting for your food you can look around and admire the selection of tea pots and cups and other tea accessories on display. The menu includes a large selection of teas to choose from, all served in home-made tea cozies to keep them hot. I enjoyed their afternoon tea sandwiches and a scone while Hubby devoured a delicious serving of their hearty Shepard's Pie, which he washed down with a steaming pot of ginger tea. The service was delightful and quick and the time we spent there was extremely enjoyable. Many English grocery items for sale as well as the beautiful china and tea items. We're going back next trip to Cambria for sure.

To begin, I must tell you that the reason that i visited the tea room was to celebrate my mother's 46th surprise birthday tea party! Which was all arranged over the phone and via mail. The party consisted of 23 or so women. Dale Ann, the proprietress, held my planning hand the entire way. She helped me with menu and arrangements. I must say that the tea room had a warm and cozy feel to it. The staff was very pleasant and helpful. Our party alone took an entire room, which contained 5 tables. Each guest was mailed a menu to choose from. The strawberry and champagne tea was wonderful. The food was good. The shop had many great tea themed items as well.

When ever I go to the Bay area I make sure I stop and have tea there with my best friend.

I went to the Bloomsbury Tea Room for lunch and I can't wait to go back for their special tea. Their choose of teas was amazing. I ordered the quiche and it came with an amazing Creamy Artichoke soup, fresh fruit and this amazing mini-desert. I know I keep saying amazing but I haven't had food that tasted this fresh in a long time. Since I am a scone fan, I ordered a side of their scones. You have to wait while they bake them but the wait was worth it. Fresh and hot from the oven, served with lemon curd. The servers were sweet and the atmosphere was very peaceful. I can't wait to go back when I can enjoy a nice, long leisurely full tea.

Delightful place for afternoon tea. Reservations highly recommended. We sat in the lovely parlor with fireplace and had the option to sit in the dining room or the outdoor patio. Selected from 9 'Mighty Leaf' silk tea bag choices, which was then brought to us - each guest received own tray - in a generous pot, with matching cup & saucer, tea bag holder, plate with delicious soft scone, sandwich selection (we requested vegetarian when reserved) of cucumber, tomato & basil, egg salad. 3 dessert cookies. Quite satisfying, we were not rushed and enjoyed attentive service. Very reasonably priced. Did not stay at the hotel, but it is very lovely.

Afternoon tea is served in the lobby of the charming, historic Cypress Inn, located in downtown Carmel. Animal lover Doris Day is co-owner of the hotel, so dogs are welcome and during our tea service we spotted about six extremely well-mannered pooches sauntering through the lobby with their owners. Not a single bark!
Our tea was not loose-leaf, but the teabags were unusual and my pure Darjeeling was delicious. Once home I researched the tea that they use and found that it is actually a bit pricey.
Each patron receives their own tea tray full of sandwiches, scones with jam and Devonshire cream, desserts, and tea accoutrements. We chose a table right next to the windows overlooking the bright garden courtyard so that we could see a few adorable dogs as they pranced by our table.
If you don't wish to order a full tea, you may also order just tea and a scone, or sandwiches and tea, so don't forget to inquire about this.
Having visited the other tea venues in downtown Carmel, I have to say, this is my favorite, hands down.

Tea at Rose Mountain was part of a 5 day reunion with my cousins. We drove a great distance to get there. At the last minute, 2 were not able to make the nearly 100 mile drive (due to illness) and we had to pay for them anyway. (Would have been nice to know in advance!) There were 8 of us and we made it clear that we were a family reunion. We were not seated all together. That was a disappointment when we arrived. The tea was wonderful and the food was even better; quite a variety, by far the best I've ever had. The portions were generous and the price was very reasonable. The owner/server seemed a bit harried even though we were the first customers of the day. Her temper was short and she seemed put out when asked to dispose of an unwanted cup of tea so that it could be refilled by another pot. We loved being able to select our own tea cups from a large variety of lovely china cups. The room was a bit overdressed and fussy however there were some charming and unusual bric a brac. Rose Mountain is quite a ways off the beaten path but well worth the adventure of getting there.

This was followed by wonderful tea sandwiches, fruit compotes, chocolate mousse, and many terrific sweets. The service started with a presentation of the nine teas we could select (three choices, one for each "course"). The unusually named "Birthday Cake Tea" was very good and enjoyed by all. We were all impressed by the lovely table setting with linen, candles and rose petals. This leisurely tea party was very successful! This tea room is not one I would visit again. The food no good at all. The sandwiches are mostly fluff and my bread tasted dried out and hard. The dessert's were just so mediocre. One was a hard cookie that had some kind of jam of something in it, one was a piece of chocolate and the other was so mediocre that I can not even remember what it was. To top it all off, the server was rude and nasty. Then the icing on the cake was the 20% tip they add, for three people without even telling you! I was very let down and felt a bit put out. I would never visit again. It was just not worth the money, or putting up with the rude service.
Would you go back? Sorry, no.

What a disgrace for a 5 star hotel that prides itself on it’s graciousness and decor. This was a special event, Christmastime and my birthday, and my family wanted to pamper me on my day. Boy! Were we disappointed? I should have known when I saw the china was wholesale restaurant plain white that this wasn’t going to be an “Event”. We were seated in an area known as the Palm Court. This was to the left of the busy lobby and the foot traffic added to the noise. We waited 15 minutes till the hostess came and took our drink order. There seemed to be only 1 server on duty. While looking at the menu I noticed that some of the teas offered were the same I could buy in any grocery store, i.e Constant Comment. We continued our wait till our server came and re-took our order. We discovered that 3 of our 6 cups were dirty with dried tea leaves and unidentified specks of food (?). We informed our server and she returned with our tea pots 3 new cups and 2 of the 3 were still dirty. The tea pots had no cozy nor were they and there contents hot. The serving trays and silver had seen better days. The table linens were non-descript and yellowed and the décor of the room left a lot to be desired (this was Christmas time). The servers were not in period dress (white shirt and black skirt) and there were birds flying over our heads. To add to this the food when it finally arrived was of poor quality. The sandwiches were soggy and had a stale taste. Again we had to wait for service on the dessert. There was a nice selection of deserts (the best part of the tea). We were never offered more tea, or even water for that fact. My family and I were very disappointed. We felt like the server was bothered by us. For the price that was charged, $34.50, I felt we should have had better selections in tea and food and been treated much better by the staff. I will never take afternoon tea there again due to the poor service, poor atmosphere and exorbitant price.
Would you go back? Sorry, no.

I was so excited about going to the Del since I hadn't been there for several years but was very disappointed in the Palm Court Café's afternoon tea. It is only served on sundays except in December when it is served every day as I was informed. First off there are two sections to the café. The one listed in the other review as light and pretty with a view of the garden and the dark no view we got right next to the piano player. Needless to say my friend and I couldn't chat while the musician was performing. We asked if we could be seated in the other room but was told no. Secondly, the service was very slow. We waited about 20 minutes before we were attended to. As it was mentioned in one of the other reviews, there was only one server for the entire two areas. The tea was all right. We had a few choices to pick from. The food when it finally got to us was good also. But again we had to wait for service on the dessert. When it finally came, we weren't even offered more tea, or even water for that fact. I was very disappointed at this point. I felt like the server was bothered by us. For the price that was charged, double of what most tea rooms charge I felt we should have been treated much better. The appearance of the section of the café we were seated in looked more like a bar than a tea room and there were people wearing shorts and hacking away on their laptops, not the atmosphere or ambiance I was hoping for. This is the second time I went to a café in a hotel and both times I was disappointed. Afternoon tea is an after thought for them, I believe, a way to make more money. I would have to give the Palm Court Café an overall fair to poor rating. I doubt I will take afternoon tea there again due to the poor service and fair to poor atmosphere.
Would you go back? Sorry, no.

The Hotel del Coronado offers Victorian Tea in the lovely Palm Court. The room decor is perfect and one can imagine oneself enjoying afternon tea in the late 1800's in some far reach of the British Empire. The Palm Court features a beutifully beamed ceiling, a wall of white framed multi-light windows, and a view of the inner courtyard with its gazebo and lush garden. The service was friendly and well intentioned although I'm fairly certain that formal dining was rather new to the server. She served another pot of hot tea without being asked and offered us some more finger sandwiches which surprised us. A nice variety of finger sandwiches was served inluding shrimp, salmon, ham, duck, and vegetable. Each had its own distict flavor. None of them were the usual bland fair. Desserts included tangy lemon squares dipped in white chocolate, chocolate chip and nut squares dipped in dark chocolate, delicious cranberry bread, and hand made truffles. The chocolate dipped strawberries were perfect. The scones were nice but I would have liked lemon curd with them. They were served with unsweetened pureed raspberries. Many restaurants act as though they are annoyed by physically handicapped customers. The most wonderful
thing about our experience at the Del was the assistance given to two women in our party. One walks with the aid of a walker, the other is in a wheelchair. The parking valet unloaded the wheelchair for us and a porter helped her into the hotel. When we
left we were told that we are welcome back anytime and they will gladly assist us. I'm certain they meant it. Victorian Tea in the Palm Court is a bit pricey but well worth it in view of the lovely period setting, good food, and compassionate service!

What a disappointment! Knowing that this is a five-star resort I was looking forward to a wonderful time. To my dismay the entire tea was one of the worst I've experienced. The china was wholesale restaurant plain white, the serving trays and silver had seen better days -- the tray with our sandwiches had a broken tier. The desserts were stale and looked like they had been frozen. The sandwiches were bland. The service was very poor. After being seated we waited fifteen minutes before our order was taken. The ratio was three waitresses to nine tables at the time. When our tea was delivered the waitress didn't even pour. There was no cream, the sugar and sugar substitutes were in packets all in one dish. When asked if sugar cubes were available, the waitress replied yes and proceeded to bring out eight sugar cubes on a saucer -- without any tongs. Water was served in a cocktail glass with a straw. The only saving grace to the occasion was the beauty of the hotel grounds.

The Ritz-Carlton is a beautiful place for afternoon tea. The view is spectacular. My friends and I chose the "Royal Tea," where we were treated to an assortment of savory sandwiches, sweets, a kir royale cocktail (you may choose a non-alcoholic drink too), tea cakes, scones, and strawberries with cream. They have a nice tea selection and our servers were very attentive; we did not get to the bottom of our tea cups once! Reservations are a must.

The food was very bad. The sandwiches were all on white bread with turkey & cheese or ham & cheese. NO SCONES! Store bought cookies and a slice of some bread, a bought mini cheese bite, a few grapes and two strawberries ( the fruit did not seem fresh). We had ice tea (which was very good) when we arrived. After the food was brought (all at once) we had to ask for hot tea, no cream or sugar was out or brought out until we asked for cream. Very disappointing. The shop was nicely decorated, it was quiet with some music playing. I do not consider it a real "tea". We left there hungry and went to eat at a Mexican restaurant.

This tea room was very lovingly decorated. There is a retail shop that sells angel-related items. The ambiance was very nice; there was a fountain and soft music, and twinkle lights everywhere. When you sit down for tea, there is a gift package with little trinkets meant to inspire you, which is a nice touch. The tea service is best suited for children, however. The menu is disappointing if you are used to traditional afternoon tea, and the tables and chairs are child-sized, making it somewhat uncomfortable for adults. The food also was geared towards children's tastes. Everything was brought out at once on a two-tiered gold serving tray. The scone was more like a pastry with icing, and the sandwiches served were tuna and cucumber along with some mini quiches. For dessert, there was a small cup of fruit, some candy, cookies, and mini pastries. It appeared that everything was store bought. They had hats and feather boas for patrons to try on, and they offered a free photo.

This is, without a doubt, the most wonderful tea shop I have ever visited. A very small establishment, the shop is cute and dainty and a must for anyone with a taste for an Alice in Wonderland theme, as much of the décor goes along with this. My friends and I all had different teas (milk tea, bubble tea, etc) and were delighted by their taste (the milk tea especially was nearly divine). The hostess is courteous and very sweet and the food brought out was elegantly presented and at least equal quality to her fine teas. Enjoying the atmosphere is nearly as pleasant as enjoying the afternoon tea itself.

Tyme for Tea is my favorite tea room in the Bay area. It is located within an antiques shop in the wonderful little community of Niles. The Victorian tea consists of a pot of tea, followed by a warm scone served with Devonshire cream, raspberry preserves, and lemon curd. After you have finished with the scone, they bring out the tray filled with little sandwiches and hot hors d'oeuvres such as a mushroom tart and an asparagus pastry. The bottom of the tray is filled with a selection of desserts that frequently change. They encourage you to take your time, and don't rush out with all the food at once, or bring the bill with the tray as some places do. They also have a number of special event teas around Mother's day, Christmas, etc. with live music.

Tyme for Tea is situated in a historical section of Fremont, in the Alvarado-Niles area. There are many antique shops to browse in the area. We went for afternoon tea. The tea room is located on one side of the antique shop. The tables were set with pressed pink linen, beautiful tea cups and saucers, and white pressed linen folded in a beautiful napkin holder. We were served a scone with raspberry jam, crème fraîche, and lemon curd. Absolutely delicious. The next course was tea sandwiches displayed on a three-plated two-tier silver tea plate. The finale was tea pastries, which consisted of lemon madeleines, petits fours, and a mini-cup of devil's food cake. My sister and I had the apricot and house specialty tea which was absolutely luscious. Unfortunately, my teenage daughter is not a tea drinker and opted for cocoa, which was served in a small teapot --  wonderful, she felt so much as part of the party. We will definitely come back again. There are different variations of the menu which are afternoon tea, tea and tea sandwiches, or tea and pastries. Tyme for Tea is open from Wednesday to Sunday, but make sure to make reservations for the weekends. I believe the menu changes, so I plan to go a couple of times. Their web address is tymefortea.

I have visited this tea shop countless numbers of times and, though I have tried other tea rooms that are closer or promise to be fancier, I prefer to take tea at Tyme for Tea & Co. The entire experience is so authentic and I have taken both British and American friends and relatives alike to enjoy this wonderful and extraordinary tea shop. We adore putting on the hats and boas available for customer use, and the food and tea alike are absolutely superb. I have never had a bad experience there and have recommended Tyme for Tea & Co. to several friends and relatives and they've all given glowing reviews. It is certainly a little jewel of a place in Niles, Ca.

Tyme for Tea's ambiance is one where husbands and wives can come together to talk in a relaxed atmosphere, and were girlfriends can relax and enjoy the comforts that this shop has to offer. I recommend this location for those who need to get away. I'm sorry to say that some of the tea that is served here is in the bagged form. Ask for loose-leaf teas prior. Also, the past two times that I have visited the shop, I have been given cups that were not properly cleaned. Overall, what I am happy to say, is that the women who own and serve the shop are kind, gentle, and eager to please.

We visit tea rooms at least 4 times a year in the Southern California area. The appearance and ambiance were very nice but when it came to service it was lacking quality. The food was just placed on our table without any descriptions or comments which I believe is nice for people who have not been before. One person in our group of 8 asked for iced tea and that appeared to be a challange. With 8 guests we were only allowed 2 types of tea so not everyone got the tea they would have liked. The tea was very good though. Our reservations were at 2:45 in the afternoon and they were not busy. So for the service to be lacking was not due having too many tables to take care of. I was also disappointed that there we not actual gardens as the name indicated.

This is one of my favorite tea rooms due to its ambiance and friendly service. I have been here multiple times. The tea room is in a beautiful historic building setting the stage for a delightful experience. Indoors the tables are tastefully done with an indoor fountain running in the corner. Hats for both men and women are provided as well as feather boas. The warm cranberry orange scones are excellent, although slightly small. The food is fresh and good, tea sized portions. A nice variety of teas include the standard black teas, plus fruit teas and a variety of green teas. The jasmine green tea is a good green tea. Light bodied and clean with a jasmine tone. The pricing is reasonable. The owners and server are polite and do not rush you to leave making this tea room an excellent place to relax and read or chat with a friend.

The Tea Garden provides hats and attire for dressing up. The owner is warm and friendly, making you feel comfortable immediately. She takes photos of your tea party, and the pictures are put in the tea room's photo album, or you return in a week and take it home as a memory of a special afternoon.

If you want good, HOMEMADE food, friendly service in a relaxing atmosphere, then this is the place for you. I have been to other fancier tea places and had about 50 cents worth of food on my plate, but paid $20 for the "experience". Not this place!!! For the high [sic] tea you recieved homemade soup (tomato when we went), four good sized finger sandwiches stuffed with yummy and fresh fillings, a small side salad and english crisps. Also, at the end you get two HOMEMADE - VERY YUMMY scones with real double devon cream and preserves. I was stuffed! The sweet ladies who run this shop are wonderful. I felt like I was back in one of the quaint towns in England that I miss soo much. Again, this is not a place to wear a frilly hat, and the sandwiches are not heart shaped with edible flowers on top. This is a place to get excellent, fresh food, friendly service, and a relaxing atmosphere. There is also a british shop connected with a very good variety of groceries.

Out of about 10 Tea Rooms that I have gone to this one had the BEST food ever, so fresh teasting. There were 3 of us and the table and room was a little small. Our table didn't have enough room for our pots of tea. It kept being served to us. The serves was great, but having and wanting to keep our cups full did break up our conversation a little.

My whole family, including hubby and 2 boys really enjoyed this spot of tea. The owner was very patient and gracious with us. We are fairly new to having teas and she was kind enough to explain to us the varieties of teas and uses of tea making supplies. All of our kids are still thanking us. My hubby gifted me with one of her teapots and we can continue her graciousness at home. I would love to thank her for inspiration.

I had a bridal tea here, it was awful. We were in a plain white room on folding chairs - there were only 7 of us - Service was not good, food was costco-esgue. We went expecting something like Lisas - We were so disapointed :( Ok to sit & read, not ok for tea time.

This tea-house was formerly Lisa's Tea Treasures - Lafayette. DO NOT believe that because it's in the same place that you will enjoy it as you did Lisa's. We went with a party of four for plain old tea, and left after having dropped $120 (gratuity is included at 18%, no matter what you think of the service). The portions were incredibly skimpy, which was probably just as well because the elements were largely from the Costco Frozen Section. Truly hideous, I'm sorry to say. The proprietress was quite kind, and she's only been there for six months, but I would suggest that she visit other tea-houses to find out what service is supposed to entail. Nice folks, just totally clueless as to what this type of thing is all about. $20 worth of food for $120. Not pleased. Apparently they have an expanded menu for formal meals, and perhaps they're transitioning from being a tea-house to being a restaurant, because there didn't appear to be much of a selection of tea, nor a chef in evidence, although we were not presented with their expanded menu.
Would you go back? Sorry, no.

The shop contains a vast assortment of teas and coffees, both decaf and regular; herbal and Oriental, as well as various tea appliances. However, they have gone with the "fad" and have lots of coffee oriented items. The café also caters to the coffee crowd with mostly outdoor seating under great old tree(s). The birds are cordial and the appointments rustic. The sandwiches are hearty and made for the working crowd.

Comments:
I have been to Aubrey Rose many times and have enjoyed taking friends and family members there and it's always a pleasant experience, especially for 1st timers! I often have tea with several friends and we never mind the gratuity included in the bill. I am usually in charge of making reservations and collecting the money to pay the bill. I let my friends know ahead of time how much they will owe since I have calculated it before arriving. I always end up short and to make things easy I make up the difference, usually several dollars. It happened again today. Apparently the owner of Aubrey Rose feels it is his due to calculate the tip on the total of the bill after the tax is added in. Quite frankly, I think this is a shabby way to treat customers. I did question him today, asking if he calculates the tip using the total food amount + the 7.75% tax. He said, “it’s the way he’s always done it” and he knows of other merchants who do the same. Hmmm, never heard of such a thing.

Our party of two had advanced reservations and as such; we had a fine printed card with our names at the table when we arrived. I took a friend that had never had 'tea' before and she thought that was very classy. Yes, I must admit, it was a nice touch. Upon seating a very nice looking white haired gentleman welcomed us to the tea room. The servers wear lacy aprons that adds to the tea service. We had our choice of so many teas that my head was spinning; we chose the house blend and peach. So, good were these teas that I brought some home. The food was top notch. The scone maybe more like a biscuit but it is the best biscuit that you have ever tasted. The shop is a fairly large gift shop but that in no way detracts from the tea experience. In fact, all of the beautiful tea sets delicately placed about the shop added to the ambiance.

My sister and I called around noon on Friday in hopes of a 1:00 p.m. reservation for 2. Dave said he could seat us at a large table if we didn't mind. We didn't and enjoyed a lovey afternoon tea with  excellent service and perfect ambiance. I'm not sure why we two were seated at a table for 7 when there  were smaller tables set but unused. Perhaps no-shows. The food was tasty and very attractively presented, only improvement would be to provide larger servings of clotted cream and jam. The cookies were excellent.

This tea room is quaint, friendly, warm, welcoming, and wonderful. I have been to tea rooms all over the USA and England and I find this one to be one of the best "casual, non-hotel based" tea rooms in the US. The service is attentive, personal, and very much like a casual English tea room. The second time I went in for tea, the owner, Dave, not only remembered my name, but he remembered where I sat, what type of tea I like, and that I adored his homemade lemon curd. The food is exceptional, the teas are varied with knowledgeable staff who can discuss the nuances of each, and the scones and pastries vary every time. Victorian hats and feather boas are available for anyone who wants to wear them. The décor is lovely and this shop has a large assortment of VERY hard to find items in addition to a phenomenal selection of teapots, cups, and endless tea accoutrements. The co-owner, Dave, gives a comforting presence to any man who attends so the shop is comfortable for both sexes. The location is great, surrounded by antique shops on a cheery cobblestone street that is genuine and not ornamented for tourists. A wonderful experience for locals and out-of-towners.

The previous tea goe has not visited many tea rooms. Belladonna is one of the best places to enjoy tea in southern CA. It also sits on a corner lot on a busy street. ( maybe she was "on drugs" since she said it was between meth labs? ? ? ) Who would put such a comment. Ladies, we hold teas for our ladies group at church at Belladonna's three times a year. Plus, we take all our other friends and family members there all year long. The soups and scones are to die for. The chicken walnut salad sandwiches are fabulous. Having tea at Belladonna is an experience like no other! Donna, the owner, pampers you from the moment you walk in the door. Sweet Susie and Charming Chelsie make sure everything is perfect for you during your visit. One of my favorite items on the menu are the fabulous scones! Unbelievable flavors like butterscotch/coconut and tropical with mango and papaya, cranberry or apricot and my children's favorite - chocolate chip! Incredible tea flavors are also a part of the experience with my personal favorites like Peach Brandy, Raspberry Mango and Creme Brulee. There are always a variety of delicious tea sandwiches, but the one I'd go back for again and again is the chicken, walnut and cranberry, it is awesome as a sandwich and unbelievable on top of the mixed greens with the "house" raspberry vinegarette dressing!! Dessert is always a treat, be sure to save room. For tea time with friends, a party or just to "get-away" for a little quiet time, Belladonna's is the best!

The air was crisp and filled with a late spring chill which required some warm respite after a brisk walk through Old Town Lompoc sharing our lovely murals with out-of-town guests. Penelope's of course is our refuge of choice. The warm welcome, charming decor and properly prepared tea again met our expectation and delighted my first time guests. The scones were generous, warm and served with delightful Devon creme, our tea sandwiches were fresh, double bites and plentiful. Though I was completely satisfied with my Light Afternoon Tea and shared a warm basket of scones with my guests, we all indulged in sharing a decadent Nanaimo bar, something that is ever-expected at Penelope's. We all browsed the gift shop, purchased some tea and went back out in the crisp air to finish seeing the murals. What a delightful weekend treat for all.

What a cozy little respite in the small town of Lompoc! What a nice surprise! My daughter and I enjoy tearooms and will travel to discover new ones. Santa Barbara County is severely hampered on choices. This place was the most pleasant of surprises. Will we be back? You'd better believe it. Best in the county, beating out the Biltmore! Penelope herself is quite a sweet and generous personality, taking time to answer questions and share her experiences. It doesn't seem possible something this good would be found in little Lompoc, but it's the best in the county. Don't hesitate to go "off the beaten path." You will be very glad you did.

Having lived in Lompoc my entire life, I have seen many businesses come and go, but this is one that I truly hope will stay with us. Having been to one of Penelope's teas when she was at The 1890 House, I was well aware of her talent and had eagerly been awaiting the opening of her new establishment. I was not at all disappointed. The scones -- served with real Devon cream -- are outstanding. The desserts are generous and delicious. The tea is perfectly prepared, and the service is polite and attentive. Best of all, the atmosphere is delightfully cozy, and the room is beautifully furnished by a partnering antique dealer. On a delightfully drippy, gray day, there would be absolutely nothing better to do in Lompoc.

Have been going to the Chocolate box for a few years now, and it is a wonderful little gem of a tea shop ( and of course her homemade chocolates are delicious)!! I have enjoyed rainy days sipping tea and having scones in her parlor like surroundings. My sisters and neices have gathered there for yummy soup and pretty tea sandwiches, and of course her scones and tea, and homemade chocolates! Jane is delightful, her scones are my favorite, and the tea delicious! For me The Chocolate Box is a retreat from the busy world.

I enjoyed the tea, and the food tasted fine. I was pleased that we had scones with cream and curd, as well as a dessert. The Bisque was great, and the sandwiches large. I was even fine that we were charged 17$ for tea without choosing the menu. However, I would have liked to see some different breads for the sandwiches besides just white. I also would have loved a petite four or pudding rather than a chocolate candy as a dessert. Plus, if I am going to be picky, the teapot was small- but I am a big drinker. I am not saying it was not good, the friend I went with enjoyed it a lot, and I left contented and satiated. Just comparing it to parts of other tea houses that I liked more, the bread, dessert, and teapot size came to mind.
Would you go back? Maybe.

This has been one of the best teas I have had so far. The tea was excellent (Queen Anne's blend) The scones were very good and moist the lemon curd homemade. The sandwiches were the biggest both in size and very generous with the fillings. The soup Tomato bisque was delish!!! For dessert Jane offers her hand made chocolates, I ate one and took the other 2 home to show my mum. I will definately go back. Thanks Jane!!!

Not only is it the best tea value anywhere, the food is consistently good and the staff consistently friendly. Elise has become a true success and it could not have happened to a more deserving person. I've been to her establishment dozens of times and intend to go dozens more!

My mother, daughter, and I have made a ritual of having tea in a different tea room once a month. Elise's was just fabulous. I had a Wild Raspberry tea that was so smooth and flavorful. It went above and beyond normal raspberry tea! We were served by Elise herself and she was very gracious! The food was plentiful and had an excellent flavor. I would highly recommend the broccoli cheese quiche, yum! We never had to wait for any course of our tea; everything was served promptly and displayed nicely. The room was just beautiful, any tea lover's dream! My daughter is just four and she was given her milk in a small teapot and got to drink it from a "big girl" tea cup just like Mommy and Grandma. It was just a lovely experience and I will be telling all my friends about Elise's.

My husband takes our two daughters on Fridays to Elise's Tea Room and they have tea and scones. Each visit is a wonderful experience for my young daughters. The service is excellent, the tea selection outstanding. The scones are always warm and fresh. I hope this this tea room will offer either cotillion or etiquette classes for young ladies in the spring or summer.

Just attended another wonderful tea at Elise's. An author signing for Emily Brightwell, hosted by Joan Wunsch of Coffee, Tea & Mystery, Garden Grove bookstore. [www.ctmbooks.com] As every time I've been there before, the tea, sandwiches, scones, and desserts were just wonderful. I especially like their Country Peach tea. The back room is already decorated for Christmas.

Have you ever been to tea and came back feeling wonderful and it wasn't only because of the food? Owner Elise was as gracious and helpful as ever. The prices were very reasonable. Nothing over $10. The green tea was good and strong, however, the tea leaves were not strained out of the pot before it was placed on our table. The scones were fresh and warm from the oven, and good, but reminded me of a delicious buttermilk biscuit more than a scone. The finger sandwiches were smaller than expected, but very tasty, especially the chicken curry salad. There is a quaint shop in the back and we witnessed a ballroom dancing lesson in another room. All in all, the pleasant staff made our visit to Elise's tea room a joyous one.

My group of twelve ladies celebrated my 30th birthday here. It was a wonderful little shop with many treasures to look at. However, ALL twelve of us found the scones to be quite awful. They seemed more appropriate to pouring gravy over than adding cream and jam. We all left them on our plates, which is unfortunate since they give you three or four large scones, and scones really make the tea complete. If it were not for the scones, I would recommend this place. And that went for all twelve of us ladies aging from 22 to 56.

What a filling tea! Chocolate chip scones served while still warm, and ten finger sandwiches are included in the afternoon tea, including chicken curry and egg salad. In the Bixby Knolls area of Long Beach, the shop also sells tea accessories, jewelry, and tea-related gifts.

What a wonderful experience we had at The Vintage Tea Leaf! We had just come from a lovely tea at Elise's in Long Beach and were driving by when we saw the green awnings and stopped in to have a look. We were promptly given a tour by the owner and were so taken with the place that we made a reservation for the very next afternoon. The owner was very hands on and extremely helpful. A truly relaxing and fun time is encouraged by the boas/hats available to wear and the atmosphere of leisure. The tea, blueberry scones, sandwiches and desserts were scrumptious! I cannot wait to go back and encourage you to visit! The best of the nine tea rooms I have been to lately!

My husband and I had afternoon tea and ordered the "Tea for Two". We had one of the best times ever. It was our first time and we were not sure what to expect. But Beverly and her helpful staff made our experience a wonderful one. After tasting her own creations of teas, I will never go back to store-bought teas again, it's that good!! Also you must try the mushroom soup in addition to the tea sandwiches. Since then I have gone to other tea houses and I must say this one is by far the VERY BEST!!! Enjoy:) P.S. The cream and lemon for the scones are mouth-watering. (Very Tasty)

The tea was excellent and the scones were among the best that I've eaten. Our waiter was friendly and attentive. The owner was professionally friendly. The tea sandwiches had very good fillings, but were spoiled by the poor quality of the bread. The bread was flavorless, spongy, and turned to dough in the mouth. (It reminded me of airy soft Wonder Bread.) Exceptions: One finger sandwich was made with a decent rye bread and another from a tiny bun. The deserts were frankly boring. You are asked to choose and use an "antique" tea cup from a display, but on examining them I found that a number of them were cracked, chipped or tea stained.  It quite put me off the whole idea. The décor is Victorian. It's attractive and we enjoyed the little shop. I have no really strong negative feelings, but based on the "no quality" bread, I probably won't go back ... but should you decide to give this place a try, I suggest that you limit your order to tea and scones.

My husband and I have visited just about every tearoom in Southern California and Southern Arizona, and the Vintage Tea Leaf is by far our favorite so far. The wide selection of exceptional teas (over 100) keeps us coming back to find new favorites. Our "fave raves" so far include the vanilla peach (also in decaf and just as yummy), organic passion fruit, Casa Blanca, and her exquisite Irish Breakfast tea. The finger sandwiches and scones are the best we've sampled anywhere, and the ambiance of the place is wonderfully Victorian without being overly "frilly and frou-frou" -- which is a frequent complaint from my husband about many of the tearooms we've visited. (He feels just as at home and relaxed as I do there.) I was saddened to see the owner, Beverly, represented as rude. She has always been extremely friendly and accommodating to my husband and me on our frequent forays to the Vintage Tea Leaf -- and what's more, we've received an amazing tea education from her, as she is always quite pleased to share her extensive knowledge about tea and tea cuisine.

I recently attended a Holiday Victorian tea at the Vintage Tea Leaf. The food and ambiance were wonderful. My only compliant is Beverly, The Tea Mistress. She is very discriminating towards her guests. She seems to pick and chose who she wants to speak to and socialize with at the teas. She was offering tea to a table across from me, she looked at my guest and me and kept going. I found her behavior to be very rude. Being she is the owner it seems to me that she would want to cater to all of her guests. I believe this how you get return customers. She seems to like the focus to be upon her, which isn’t the reason that I was going there for tea. I wanted to have a nice time, good company, and wonderful food. I wasn’t concerned about Beverly’s ego. I should mention that I have been there on several occasions and her attitude is the same every time.

The Vintage Tea Leaf is a quaint, charming Victorian tea room near downtown Long Beach. Three of us spent five hours relaxing and visiting here today. How many tea rooms allow lingering beyond 1-1/2 to 2 hours? "Miss Beverly," the owner and subject of several reviews, was not present today, but I (we) were so impressed with host and hostess David and Rachael that we will definitely return. They are extremely sincere and personable and made us feel so very welcome. The choices are more than what is offered at most tea rooms and the food was good. Thank you DAVID and RACHAEL!

Tea sandwiches and scones are delectable and nicely presented. Possibly the best tea sandwiches I've had. Our server was very friendly and patient to explain the extensive menu. I think the menu is too complicated to be useful. The tea list is like a wine list which shows the owners' knowledge. The owner is very knowledgeable but carries an attitude. The "tea mistress" made snide comments for my polite request for seating to accommodate a baby. We did get a wonderful table and the "tea mistress" improved herself as a hostess. If it were not for the initial rudeness, it would have been one of the better experiences of teahouses. The "tea mistress" is very knowledgeable and puts a lot of heart in the tea house. She seems to enjoy sharing her extensive knowledge of tea. If only she were nice and genuine.

Not only are the 45-odd pages of her tea menu exhaustive, but also the Tea Mistress, Beverly's, detail to every last nuance of your experience is as well. As a medical student, I would often study in a quiet corner of the tea room. Exams, doctors ... it did not matter what was on my mind, Miss Beverly had the perfect potion for my palate. I, personally, am addicted to Casablanca, one of her hand-blended teas. But there are tastes for all from herbal tisanes to robust smoked Russian black teas.
Bring an appetite! The homemade cream of mushroom soup is a must, or if you're there in the springtime try the fresh, cold, organic strawberry soup! Scones, crumpets, a dozen or so varieties of tea sandwiches and desserts. The Vintage Tea Leaf salad is another treat with wild rice, cranberries, walnuts, chestnuts and other goodies on a bed of European greens with raspberry vinaigrette ... healthy and tasty.
Service is always personalized, and the number of her antique bone china tea cups is impressive ... never drink from the same cup twice. The ambiance is Victorian without being oppressive. So, if your husband or other reluctant partner is reticent, Miss Beverly will put them at ease. There are tea hats available if you didn't wear one (certainly not required, but lots of fun and a great topper to a tea party), and hats for gentlemen as well.
All in all, the Vintage Tea Leaf gives a charming, civilized, languid experience in our hectic lives. A welcome change from the 'double non-fat mocha and make it quick' routine. Worth driving to Southern California for.

For my birthday I was invited by a close friend to take tea for the first time at the Vintage Tea Leaf in Long Beach, CA. The tea room was lavishly decorated in antique and Victorian colors and furnishings. Our waitress was extremely gracious, sweet and helpful (apart from the rest of the staff), and there was a very extensive list of teas available. The mini scones were freshly made and perfect, however, the homemade lemon curd was bitter. Every tea sandwich was a delight to our palates, especially the cheddar with champagne red pepper jelly. The only disappointment was a certain air of rudeness from the upper staff. In addition, I noticed "Miss Beverly," the owner, at the citrus festival the following day and attempted to greet her. She was busy setting her table for a competition by herself, and snubbed me, not even turning around to look at me. A muttered 'hello' was all that was returned me. If it wasn't for the customer service from the upper staff, I would return. Tea rooms should be associated with grace and friendliness so in this case I will not be returning to the Vintage Tea Leaf ever again.

This lovely shop was tucked away at the end of a busy downtown street. It is run by two extremely nice ladies. Their attention to a big party or a small party of 2 (like us) was seamless! They were eager to answer all the trivia questions regarding teas and scones and munchies (food quality was a YUMMY A+) and gave us a bit of Old Long Beach City history. The unique feature of this shop to us was the "TEA HUTCH." Your only job was to walk to the several hutches and choose the vintage cup and saucer that fit your mood. I must say they had in excess of 100 styles and they were all gorgeous! The decor was very TEA Victorian and we had a grand time. Price was average for a nice tea room -- I believe we spent $35 for two of us! ... DON'T miss this one.

We went here with a large group, and one of our activities is finding nice
tea rooms and hotels who offer ladies teas. I don't think I'd return to the Ritz-Carlton in Marina Del Rey. The service was very inattentive and slow. We waited an hour and twenty minutes before even receiving one pot of tea. The food was adequate, nothing special. The hotel is very beautiful, and the view that you have looking out at the marina is lovely. But other than that, I don't think there's too much to recommend this place for an afternoon tea.

Now this is an example of excellent presentation, atmosphere, tea, and sandwiches! I wanted to treat my bridesmaid to a wonderful and memorable tea service. We opted to have the tea service with champagne. I believe it was called the "Royal" package. It was a little on the pricey side, but WELL worth the splurge! The room had a wall of bay windows overlooking the marina, and was decorated with masculine colors and plush chairs. A very elegant room.
The service was impeccable. We were greeted with genuine kindness, and did not have to wait very long for the service to begin. They (we had more than one server) were attentive without being intrusive, and just when we seemed to need more tea, they were there to refill our tea cups and pots for us. The tea had a wonderful aroma and had a smooth taste. The finger sandwiches were beautiful and artfully designed, and had such rich flavors. The assorted desserts and juicy strawberries and cream left my friend and me savoring every bite with eyes closed.
We were already more than impressed with the tea experience when the hotel exceeded my expectations by giving me a small box of chocolates as best wishes for my upcoming wedding. It was a wonderful tea experience (it is now the experience at the top of our list in tea services to measure others by). I highly recommend the Ritz-Carlton at Marina Del Rey.

Lisa's Tea Treasures is a real find! We attended a holiday luncheon there with our department at work. It was the most lovely and memorable dining experience I have ever had -- it even beats the high tea I had when I was in England several years ago!
The ambience is delightful, jam-packed with Victoriana, in every available inch of the building. The table settings were lovely and delicate, and they managed to seat us even though we were a fairly large party for a lunch. Service was prompt, attentive, and courteous. The menu selections were varied far beyond expectation, and all were tempting. There was a selection suitable to the tastes of any diner. The prices were moderate, and the teas and foods far surpassed expectations in every way. The portions were more than adequate (indeed, more than anticipated), and were served in a way that was as pleasing to the eye as to the tongue. The selections were all mouth-watering, and priced well within range for the excellent quality. I cannot possibly express how pleased I was to have been introduced to this establishment, and I hope to return many times, to share this wonderful treasure with others.

My sister took us to this wonderful little tea house north of Weed, CA-in the middle of a very, very, VERY small town! Ms. Lynn creates a warm, cozy atmosphere with what I think is this converted antique shop. There is a special room in back for little girls complete with fancy dresses, shoes, and hats to wear (if they wish) while they have their tea. Although it was too cold to sit outside when I was there, there is an outdoor garden area that would be delightful on a nice day (this is where Ms. Lynn gets her fresh herbs). Ms. Lynn made the best veggie burger I have ever eaten, although all of the sandwiches, salads, scones, and desserts were delicious! Her assistant, Crissy, was extremely nice and attentive to our group. We were six (including one child) and each had to wear a hat (ranging from silly to sophisticated) which were provided
by the house. The shop carries locally produced jams, specialty chocolates, and everything tea!

My daughter and I discovered this wonderful little spot a few years ago. We were going through a rough period and just walked in. The owners were doing everything themselves at the time because it was still a fairly new establishment. Debbie, Susan and Mom treated us as we were honored guests in their home. The food is delicious and prepared daily. They didn't laugh when they realized we were unfamiliar with loose leaf teas or how to properly eat a scone, but took the time to show us. It was a beautiful experience. I call it my spot, whenever I want to get away from the rest of the world I go to the Antique Chest, no one but my daughter would know to look for me there. I can go relax, read a book and enjoy a quiet moments just for me. If you live in the area and you've never been it's a must. I've tried every aspect of the menu and even order all special occassion cakes from them now. Susan is a wonderful baker. It's a homey atmosphere and you'll never be able to try all the teas on the menu, because they are always adding more. Who knew tea came in so many different varieties. Mothers take your daughters and their friends. Dress them like the princesses they are and take them back in time to a place where the finer things in life were part of the normal every day  routine. Allow them to experience something that is not a microwave version and create a memory that they will cherish forever. Going to the Antique Chest is like being reunited with good friends your always welcome!
Would you go back? Yes, can't wait!

The tea was wonderful. We also had blueberry scones with lemon curd that was heavenly. The tea house is adorable and the owner is delightful to talk with. This is a tea house with items also for sale. Out back are a few other shops. Absolutely wonderful experience. Am looking forward to going back and taking friends.
